Plans for Halloween??

If you are one of the few people in the city who does not already have plans for Halloween, our church is hosting a Trunk'r'Treat at the Dillon's at 37th and Woodlawn tomorrow night from 6-8. Our Mini will be a participant in the activities.

Have a safe and happy Halloween!!

A big thanks to everyone who met at the Rowdy Beaver

Hey folks,
Thanks to everyone who showed up at the Rowdy Beaver last Friday. It was great having everyone together, too bad it was so hard to hear. Typical of Mini folks, I think we spent another hour or more outside in the cold chatting about our Minis. Really looking forward to our next get together.
Have a good one!
Brian

This Mini golf concept has gotten pushed around until a seed of an idea is beginning to take shape.

Mini Golf:
A combination of road rally, treasure hunt and geocaching or other such chuckleheaded idea could be a kick in the butt. We all know that golfers never post false scores and always call penalties on themselves so we wouldn't have to worry about anybody cheating. The honor system would prevail. Just have to make sure no VW Golf drivers infiltrate with subversion as their intent. With a few simple guidelines and interesting objectives set within a specific time period it could make for a really fun Saturday or whole weekend. Mull that over a little and see what gels.

I may have to take responsibility for that, dazite. I threw in a, what I thought was funny as hell, diatribe about silliness taking over the WAMO thread. Since then a silent pall has shrouded the thread. Some may have misinterpreted it as be being a serious or flaming post, either of which can traumatise the faint of heart or those with overdue library books.

If that be the case, then perhaps more care should be taken when I post, considering that body language and inflection are absent from this type of communication media.

Oh, and I should mention that I received an E-mail this afternoon stating that the delivery of our MINI is expected this weekend! Boundless, exuberant gesticulation has broken out and the cat is now under the bed.

I'm here. I'm going to try and bring some more to the table here in a little.

Congrats Fly'n Brick, I'm happy to hear you'll be motoring soon.

Yes, I thought it had got quiet too. This Saturday quite a few of us will probably be at the BCCW Breakfast meeting at Riverside Cafe. More details here: http://www.douglasphoto.com/BCCW/BCC...dar/42025.aspx

Fly'n Brick, congratulations - maybe you'll get your Mini in time. If so, see you there!

We were unable to attend the meeting in October. Did you all make a decisions about when to meet or how often?

I doubt seriously that we will have keys in hand that early for the breakfast. My co-pilot (or visa-versa) will be in meeting all Saturday morning anyway and it would be no fun without her along. Maybe next time. The BCCW sounds interesting too. Back in the days of my wasted youth, I reveled in sports cars. Started with a TR Spitfire, a '63 or '64, don't remember which and traded that for a '65 E Type roadster in BRG. Sure wish I had that now. Wouldn't mind having the TR either except it was lousy for autoX.

Thanx dazite, we got an email from the dealer yesterday expecting the car to arrive late yesterday or today and wanting at least 24 hrs time to go over it before turning it loose. If not this Saturday afternoon, it won't be 'till next weekend that we can get up to Wichita to take delivery. Anybody want to see wall climbing at its most bestest, stay tuned. I just hope I don't get bored waiting and loose interest.

Thought the nearest Mini dealers were either Baron in Overland Park or Edmond, OK at Coopers. Who are you getting yours from?

A sagacious question badger.
The kind, eagerly helpful lads at Joe Self found a brace of MINIs laying about loose and we made a selection from those. It is an '06 MCSC PS with black prison stripes with about 24K miles on it. We are waiting for it to be transported from Nashville. Not sure about all the options but do know that it has Cold Weather and MFS with cruise. We're thinking this will give us a decent entré into the world of MINI and in a year or two make a good trade in for a MINI of our own. Just sittin' here waiting for the adventure to begin... almost as blissful as sitting on the group W bench.

Does anyone know a lady in Wichita who picked up a C.R. JCW in Edmond from Jackie Cooper about 3-4 months ago? I met her and her son there as I was picking up my MCS. They were looking at an MCSa and the JCW. It was funny because her son said he did not like red but he thought the C.R. JCW was very nice looking and that was the one they took home! Congrats to them!

Next WAMO get together

Somebody needed to get these Mini's rolling, so the wife and I decided it would be us....this time. Not really sure what kind of "meeting" this will be, but at least we can get together again. The popular choice for dinner seemed to be Julius Rib Cage at 2958 S Seneca, in Wichita so we stopped in to make sure they could accomodate a large crowd and they were very eager to do so. We thought we could meet at 5 p.m. on Sat. Nov. 22 for dinner, then head out to Seneca Bowl located at 1909 S Seneca to burn off those calories. (Wife said this) We opted to go off their full menu, so everyone can choose for themselves what they'd like to eat. The bowling alley can probably reserve some lanes for us, but we need a head count ahead of time. So, if you could let me know by Sat. Nov. 15th if you plan to attend, that would help with reserving space for both dinner and bowling. The approx. prices for bowling is $3.50 per person, and another $2.50 for shoes. We can bowl until 9:30, then it's Cosmic Bowling which costs something like $11 per person. So again, need a head count by Nov. 15th, tell me how many, and whether you want just dinner, just bowling, or both. Hope to see you there!
Thanks,
Galen & the wife

Thanks for organizing this - count Nikki and I both in - we will try to get a sitter for the little terror.

Cheers

Derek

Just so's nobody thinks I'm ignoring the BBQ and bowling invite for the 22nd, I sent a PM to gasmini confirming two to attend. We'll be there and are really looking forward to putting faces to these often cryptic names

A brace sounds like good hunting - what did they use double ought buck?

Galen,
As we were one of those who encouraged you to make the arrangements, please add Sue & I to the list for both barbeque & bowling (although the last time I did anything like bowling was a West Country variant called skittles that involves copious amounts of beer or cider & postrating yourself on the alley).
John C. (so Brick knows some real names).

I dearly hope not. .30 cal. ball makes such a mess of things. The .24 cal #4 buck is so much more dainty but, alas, there are that many more shot to go around. I do hope that they adhered to the field and stream ethic of cleaning and properly preparing what has been 'bagged'.

The Enigma decryption of Fly'n Brick is Jim & Robbie

Maybe they do like somebody fishing just catch and release then all you have left with is a hook in your mouth, I mean grill.
Just wondering who is the Fly and who is the Brick?

That delicate distinction has yet to be considered.

Which raises a question for you more experienced MINI motorists:

Is there a safe way to determine who gets to drive without upsetting the heretofore relatively tranquil status quo of a 35+ year marraige?
