Have you guys seen the new intercooler that Dr.Steve is going to be stocking? Just make sure you don't buy 27 of them.

I'll stock them if you'll buy all of them.

No, I'll be in the Bay Area. I'll be here most of Sunday, though.

It's getting close to time to throw Fracky out and let Checkers back in.

Yep, I got Frackys gauges fixed and now I just need to find a better intake air temp sender so they are a little more robust. Then he has to drive for a couple of weeks to remember his MINI.

Hey Steve,

Had a problem with the car today! The service engine light came on as we were coming home from Lee Vining. We stopped about four or five times coming home due to the visit with tom's brother and fire. The last time I started the car the light went off. If I brought it down would you be able to tell what happened even if the light is no longer on??? Now Tom was the one driving when he light came on so I did not notice anything out of the ordinary. But after we stopped I dove the rest of the way and she felt fine! I know that I am only about 600 miles over my standard oil change. What do you think??

Altitude. Tioga Pass does that to some cars. The code may not be stored after the light goes out on lessor problems.

If you drop by the shop today, would you bring me a couple of gallons of distilled water please? Thanks.

I'm doing the Hooters thing again after work. I'll be there around 6:30pm-7:00pm. If I don't go, I'll end up working half the night.

Steve,
Thanks again for your GREAT work yesterday. Ran like a champ all the way home. Will follow up when I have more info from the vendor. Would have been very "ugly" indeed.

Lets just say that my 2% crank pulley was about "grenade". EBmini diagnosed the grinding/creaking noise as a bad tensioner pulley but when they went to replace it (along with the timing cover gasket for an ongoing oil leak), they discovered the creak was coming from the aftermarket crank pulley. You could wiggle the pulley with the belt off and replicate the sound. FYI...a stock OEM crank pulley is $499. I have yet to talk to manufacture of said pulley, but I have a new Alta 2%. Wasn't an Alta that failed.

Fracky, you can retrieve the Frackmobile tomorrow afternoon or I can bring it to CASA if I can get a ride back after. I am looking for some new sensors for your PLX gauges that will hopefully be more robust. I repaired the broken sensor, but they both won't last long before getting bumped and broken again. This will give you a change to get the bungs welded so I can hook up the other two sensors when I get the new ones. Also, PLX is working on a combo vacuum/boost sensor so we can remove the to Promini gauges which look like hell next to the PLXs. You can get your MINI ready for Euro Sunday and Checkers can move into your spot.

Sweet! I'll be by sometime tomorrow. I'll call Muffler Outpost so they can squeeze me into their schedule on having the bungs welded. Oh, do we have the sensors for the bungs? When do I get to come back to finish the gauge install? Oh, do I need to help look for AIT probes or does PLX have that covered? Sid/MSFITOY has the AIT setup on his car, so we could PM him to get his thoughts on something with some longevity. I'm cool off EuroSunday.

Dr.Steve, you were right about the large temperature difference pre & post DFIC (evident via PLX AIT probes). Holy smokes!! Just in the drive from CMS to the house there were moments that under load & at speed the delta was nearly 100degrees. As I spend more time on the road I'll post the figures I'm seeing.

Note: It'd sure be interesting to data log this & post for all the DFIC haters.
