hey guys/gals, we are tenatively planning a Southern Cal Tuning party on April 25th, 2009 in Lake Forest, CA ... so mark your calendar is you'd like to make that 'short' drive to Irvine (right next to Lake Forest).

That'd be awesome to pre-tune & then we'll tune after the Cosworth install. Tom & Tina's wedding is that weekend though, so is there a follow-up date for more tuning or is the date open to negotiation?

Joe, if you guys want to set one up for Central Cali, that's cool too. I've spoken to Steve about it and he's up for the idea. Maybe coordinate with him and see if you guys can make this happen :D

My folks lives in Tulare so i don't mind coming home to visit my folks and come up for a day or two for some tuning. Set something for early May and we'll work that into our schedule (remember, we have that SC/Turbo fun competition for late May)...

cheers.

Oh nice! You're the guy who was talking to my wife. My in-laws live outside of Porterville in a lil' town called Ducor. I'd be happy to setup a day/time to tune cars here in Fresno or even make the trek down to your neck-of-the-woods (SoCal) to tune. How many cars would you like to have for it to be worth your while? Thanks for hooking us MidCal'ers up.

Note: Are you guys able to tune R56's yet? I have two guys ready to tune em' if you are.

Blake and I are going to CASA tonight around 5:30pm to celebrate Blake's survival of his cross-country helicopter solo. I'll still be there tomorrow night, also. Damn drunk!

We've got to get the heads on three cars before that happens to make it worthwhile. May looks possible as long as nobody drags their feet too much.

Hey Steve have noticed that Mike would be willing to come here to tune also. We just need to find a dyno with "load" on it. Don't think Fresno Performances dyno does. I called them and the guy I talked to wasn't sure, I don't think it does. I do know there is a DynoJet somewhere here that does, just haven't found it yet.

Blake, Congrats on your solo flight. It was good to see you. Nick & I discussed on the way home that we would like to head over to the Napa Valley, so remember I'll be your guinea pig when you are ready. Or we could go to Vegas!

Just say the word Dr.Steve & you have the car! I've already sent the "homework assignment' though & I'd like to have those items done before my head+cam install. JIMINNImachine already said he's going to buy my Newman cam.

Joe, it's cool to see so many mid-cal folks at AMVIV. I practically spent my entire childhood in the Central Valley, then i went off to UC Davis to get away from it all I do miss the small town feel where folks are so genuine and nice; everytime i go back to visit my folks, it seems like time just slows down... things are so mellow and everyone smiles and greets everyone... but the crazy laws in Kali is just insane. If the folks in cali can get rid of those dooshbags in Sacramento and put in more common sense laws, i would move back to cali in a second (well, maybe a year or two)... but i digressed

The R56's are very tricky. The layers of encryptions on the r56 are much more sophisticated than the R53 . The chip that's on the R56 ecu is the same chip (microprocessor) we use on the MEMS so we know how it operates. We are able to make some headway on the 1st Gen of the R56 (2007 production model), but the 08 and 09 models have a different set of encryption algorithm. So when people say certain R56's are tunable, it bascially refers to the 07 production model... and it's most likely a canned tune out of a JCW car that they were able to read out and copy the rom... now this is purely speculation at this point so i could be wrong... but until we can dissect the layers of codes and get everything figured out, we're not going to rush to market just to claim the "first and fastest to market" prize.

It took us a while to come out with our tuning sw for the R53, but when it's out, it's ready to perform. We can do a lot of things that other tuning sw can not do... just b/c we are quiet, it doesn't mean the 'wheels' are not turning. Like the old saying... "the best comes to those who waits..." (forget who said that)... o, well, u get my point.

If you guys can get 8 guys/gals for the tune, then we're there... and the rest is history. Let me do some searching on the dyno and see what i can find out for the area

cheers.
mike

Dyno Dynamics is a good choice also... I've done my part, it's all yours Joe

Dyno Dynamics**:
Precision Auto, 4557 E Pine Ave, Fresno CA 93703
Ph: 559 454 8217

DynoJets: (last option)
Whipple Industries 559.442.1261
Fresno Performance 559.233.0102

If we have to choose between no-load dynojet or on the streets, we'd rather do street tunes...

Sounds like a plan! I'll get to crackin' on putting a MidCal tuning group together. Can you give me/us cost for the tune? I'm looking forward to unleashing the beast with some 550's in my 'FPD'.

I've talked to Justin at Precision Auto and checked out his place last year. I'm pretty sure he has the load module since he has just about every option available. I know he used to charge $100/car, but he was open for a dyno day for a set price.

Hey Joe, are you going to join the local BMW club after you attended their monthly meeting? Are they going to have any local events this year?

Dr. Steve, what size are those Marshall gauges? I think I would rather go with 60mm instead of 52mm. do they make both sizes?

For a price. They make the Comp II in 60mm and we may be able to get amber bulbs for them.
