Dublin St. Paddy's Day parade?

We did this last year but only had 4 cars show up - it was colder than a witch's... erm... in a brass bra, so that might have contributed to the low turn-out. Oh yeah, and MAG apparently had MINIs in the parade too. People said that ours were "more fun" though.

Do we want to participate? As a Dublin resident, I can get MOM into the parade for free, and I still have my Mid-Ohio Motoring banner from last year.

I'd put the purple cabrio AND the classic in this year, if we can get a second driver (Kara likes to harness the dog to our wagon and put the banners on that). I'd also like to have more than 4 cars if we can.

If we want to do it let me know. I'll also call MAG and see if we can all go together this year - they might already have their spot reserved, and we can glom onto them.

Sound off if you want to do it! Time is short...

I am in even if it is cold like last year. I think we need to get some candies to throw at the kids as that seems to excite them

Sounds like a job for Cooper! I'm interested but I need to make sure that wifey does not already have plans for us that day. Maybe I can get 'lil B.A.D. to re-create his outfit from his first St. Paddy's day

That would be great - the MINIs get a lot of attention.

We had a good time last year, even though it was too cold for the Breakfast Clubbers to make it over to the parade. Our MINIs had THE best rendition of the Irish flag, too. It was too bad that M.A.G. couldn't be bothered by including us in their own little soiree, but we [as has already been mentioned] did a great followup, anyway.

I may have to pass on bringing the silk green MC this year, though, as I have some rear noise [ as in clunking] issues going on and am kinda afraid to drive it til I can get it fixed somewhere. If there is no theme this year, maybe I'll come over with the royal grey MCS, instead.

BTW...just WHEN IS this parade this year [datewise]?

OMG - I'll be there if I do not have to work, Cleveburg's parade is usually on 3/17, but how would a Union Jack filled MINI look at the parade that would be my only worry... BTW - my sister's name is Erin and has always thought the 3/17 is her day. I was supposed to be named Shavon (aka english Joan) my dad (Jim) won and I'm Kim. St. Patty's day rocks!!!

Breakfast?

Isn't this the same date as the normal breakfast 'meetings'?

Would we eat breakfast, and then head out for the parade, or how does this work? How long is the parade?

The wife and I might be game for the parade (assuming of course that it is not -30deg outside ), although not sure if I want to miss a trip to the "candy-store" (aka, Outmotoring)

Dang... the 15th *is* the date of the MINI Mornin', just like last year.

I propose we MOVE the MINI Morning in March to a location closer to Dublin. The parade only takes about an hour, but you have to be there early because depending on where we end up in the line-up, you have to begin earlier.

I'll call MAG and see if they're going to be in it, and if they are, and we can join up with them, I say we meet at MAG - we can look at cars and then all head over in a mob.

OK, I called MAG and talked to the new MINI Sales manager, Kris Murray... He seems very nice and more interested than the last manager in outreach to the community - we discussed coming out on the 16th to see the Clubman (I'll put up a separate thread) as well as participating in the parade. he also agreed that it would be cool if people received Mid-Ohio Motoring information at the time of a new or used MINI sale - hopefully we can get them to sponsor the production of the welcome kits on a cross-marketing type of deal.

Good stuff - stay tuned for details!

Or, just move the breakfast date to another weekend...or are you saying that that date just cannot be moved, for any reason?

Sorry my stone tablet is already engraved with the date no changes allowed, unfortunatly Silverbacks only understand information engraved into stone tablets and we do not want to anger the Silverbacks, they can get nasty

The assembly time is 10:00 at Metro Center and the parade starts at 11:00. Maybe we can meet at 8:30 at the Bob Evans across form MAG, then head over to the parade assembly area on the other side of 161 at 10. Hopefully, MAG will participate along with us, and we can have a large group!

As I recall, we went thru this last year for the parade...it was "too cold" for the breakfast people to come, so they didn't and only 4 of us ended up taking part in the parade, other than the folks from MAG [who followed their own aganda]. I do not see why the breakfast date could not be moved for the St. Paddy's Day Parade event, since it DOES only come around once a year. This has nothing to do with being a silverback, Alan, since YOU and Matt were 2 of the 4 who participated. It DOES have something to do with supporting a community, though.

I propose we move the parade to another date. We could all go up to Nelson & do parade laps when it's nice & warm. We would be supporting the fine citizens of Garretsville Ohio USA there by doing our civic duty.

Jeff temperature had nothing to do with lack of participation in last years parade.

Allllen you are correct, it's written in stone. But could be changed with a few well placed hammer blows.

LAME 2008 schedule....

You were just being LAME as I understand it. Worried that you car will overheat if you drive it too slow? I know you are not worried about using too much fuel

Well, yes...especially since "they" are regular breakfast attendees, and couldn't fathom why the others never showed up to join the others who did.
