The guys and I (various cars and bikes + my Mini) are driving from Cincinnati East on St Rt 32 to Rt 93 North thru Hocking County (lots of curvy roads like 664 and 56 - then back to 93 N toward Zanesville. Once there, head south on Rt 555 toward Parkersburg. 555 has been called Ohio's Dragon by some. It's a great road. :-)
We should hit Zanesville around 12 or 12:30. PM me if you want & I'll send you a PDF of my map.

I dunno why I didn't just attach it here - the more the merrier!?

I attached the route that we are taking, which includes stops every 100-150 miles or so for the motorcycles to gas up.

Here's the link I read that originally turned me on to 555:

That does look like a nice route. I'm thinking I could either meet up at stop 12 (Logan) or 17 (the BP stop) and then I would probably split off at stop 31 around Athens and then take 33 back to Columbus.

Anybody else interested?

If you're thinking about meeting up at Logan - continue south a bit more and meet up at number 5 which is on Rt 93, just before hitting 56/664.

To go from 12 to 17 I don't remember to be terribly eventful.

Markers 5 to 15, and 19 to 28 are probably the curviest.

The times I have on there should be pretty accurate. We are leaving here @ 8am - if you decide to join us, PM me your cell and I'll give ya a call just before we get to stop # 2. (I'm going to PM Imagox/Matt as well - I haven't met him yet)

Thanks for the offer Chuck, but that departure time is a little early for me

I guess you young guys need your sleep.

You'll be missing some great roads. I'll take some pictures for you.

I plan on doing this drive again next year as a LAME MINI event. Stay tuned.

More like I'm not sure the "lads" could hold out all day if I took them out that early and wasn't coming home until late afternoon. They are spoiled with my wife working from home.

Man I'd go for sure and I'd even take Fiona to see how she handles the twisty roads, but I'm speaking at a writer's convention that weekend and I'll be tied up... Dang.

Oh well - have a good time and hoist a cup o' joe in my name before you head out, and drive safe!!

It really depends on when you would want to leave, here are the three options I'm looking at:

Leave around 9:30 am and meet up with them at point 7 on the map
Leave around 10:00 am and meet up at point 12 in Logan
Leave around 11:00 am and meet up at point 17 in Zanesville

These times are all based on leaving from my house in Blacklick.

Brian I like your idea of leaving Columbus around 10ish and meeting at stop 12 in Logan and splitting off at stop 31 back to Columbus.

Do you think we will be back in Cbus around 6:00?

I found a nice little drive this weekend: Oh Rt 374 has a brand new coat of asphalt (and some nice 4 wheel drift marks as well - oops!) Take 33 south from Columbus and take the bypass around Lancaster. You'll see the right turn onto 374 S. I was coming the other way - but it's a nice little jaunt and not too far away. WARNING!!! heavy tourist area by Old Man's Cave! Lots of people crossing the highway.

So it sounds like Cooper and I will be meeting up with you guys at point 12 in Logan.

Cooper - I would say we should definetly be back by 6:00. I would say by 5:00 - 5:30 at the latest.

11:11 based on the schedule in the pdf file. Are you going to be in Lancaster or Athens saturday morning? If you are in Lancaster we could definitely meet up on our way down.

As I said b4
If you're thinking about meeting up at Logan - continue south a bit more on 93 and meet up at number 5, just before hitting 56/664.

To go from 12 to 17 I don't remember to be terribly eventful, and markers 5 to 15, and 19 to 28 are probably the curviest.
Also for those heading back to Columbus.. I've heard that Rt 56 from Athens north thru chkpoint 5, then follow to chkpoint 11 or 12 is very nice.
From there you could turn left/northwest on 33 and head back towards Columbus.
(just another option other than rt 33 all the way back)

If there's a better place in Logan that's more visible than Chkpoint 12 - lemme know. Those Checkpoints were ONLY to let MS Streets/Trips 2007 which specific routes I intended to take, ya know?

I believe you could take 56 to 23 and come back to Columbus that way. There is a great section after you pass Tar Hollow State Park, I know because I took out a tree there and totaled an Acura about 5 years ago. It is a great section though you pop over the top of a hill and there is a nice left right that unless you dip a tire into the gravel is totally fun and easy.
