I'll ask on this forum.....just looking for an informal poll on what the area's membership is using for snow tires, any special consideration..such as rim changes, costs and first impressions...seems like a fair question..

I went from 16" rims to 15" steelies with Dunlop Winter Sports for my snow tires. They performed phenomenally well last winter, making my MINI as reliable as my
4x4 Jeep in the muck and mire that is winter in Detroit.

Go talk to Alex @ thetirerack.com, they are a sponsor here and have put several deals together for MINIs for the coming winter.

I've heard nothing but good things about The Tire Rack both here and offline. That includes a recmmendation from the local Goodyear Outlet...

Thanks to all that have responded..looking for feedback from the Philadelphia area..such as first impressions of the tires that where fitted for the snow, costs and who or which dealer did the service work.

Thanks,

Call Eric @ Helix13 - he is a Tire Rack delaer, and does free installs. I had him order my new wheels and tires - Continental ContiExtreme's all seasons. I live in hilly norhtern NJ, and was fine with them in the snow.

I got Borbet B's and 15 inch Blizzaks from Alex at the Tire Rack. Look at the special packages he has posted on the tire and wheel forum (it is pinned at the very top of the list). I was delighted with the service.

I ordered the blizzaks with the 15' steel wheels and hope I did the right thing. I'll soon know for sure. B.D.

Had Blizzaks on my Miata. Uncanny how good that car went in the snow. They make different ones for different types of conditions and driving so do a little reading.

I bought them from Tirerack, no offense to any other vendor, just were I got them.

You won't be disapointed with Blizzaks,

I bought the 15" Blizzaks & alloy wheels from Alex and had them installed at the Auto Store in Mountain Top. We've had plenty of snow and the tires are great.

My husband bought me 15" steelies and Blizzaks for an early Xmas present for my MCS. They arrived mounted, and he switched the wheels for me. I haven't had to use them in the snow yet, but the aggressive tread looks like it's handle anything except for sheet ice...which nothing but studded tires can cope with.
He purchased them from Tirerack for a very good price.

I had some Blizzaks on a previous car and they were phenomenal. They were on 14"inch wheels and never even blinked in the face of snow. I have purchased three sets of tires and my brother has pruchased 10 sets of tires from Tirerack and have always received great service and prices. You can't go wrong expecially when you consider that if you order a wheel/tire package they will mount and balance them for you before they ship them.
