Weekend trip feeler
Weekend trip feeler
The Plan
1 or 2 day weekend trip to take in some good food, friends, and foliage before the snow tires go on and the sunroofs stay closed for the season. It would be great if we could get enough people and take some great photos along the highway together and support the NH economy after last years less-than-ideal foliage season.
Important: Our plan now is to stay for a night to make it a weekend event. This is not by any means mandatory in any way. Come for the day on Saturday or Sunday, come for a few hours, we would love for anyone to fit it in their schedule any way they can. We generally do this trip anyways just thought it would be more fun with everyone we have met at MINI events this year.
Important 2: This is not and should not need to be a MINI only event. If you want to bring your other car, bring it. You might not fit in quite as much but the more the merrier.
The Location
Either Lincoln, NH or Conway, NH which both are entry points for the Kancamagus Highway. If you have never been to the area it is a great place to take in mother nature and just enjoy New England at its best. Both Conway and Lincoln have nice restaurants and great bed and breakfasts to stay in.

Accomodations (optional)
We prefer bed and breakfasts so we were thinking of going that route for a night. This being said, we would be going during or around peak foliage season so we might want to book as early as possible or it might make things tough. Ideally we could all stay close by or in the same location to make coordination simple. Prices range from about $100-$200/night for 2 (including breakfast) during peak foliage season.

Getting There
The trip is about 2 hours and some change each way from the Boston area. ideally, we could all go up together as a group, take in the foliage, make some stops along the way for food and photos. we would likely leave early morning on a Saturday to get enough of the day in for anyone deciding not to stay for the night.
What To Do
Once in the area we usually drive the highway to another town, walk around, shop, eat, drive some more, take some photos/videos and just have a good time. The area is rich with culture and fun starting in foliage season through spring with all the ski areas getting ready. Also open to suggestions for those more familiar with the area.
Dates
!! Need everyones input here !!
!! Need everyones input here !!
Peak foliage is usually the end of September/early October so as of now the possible weekend dates are:
September 22 - 23 (bit early)
September 29 - 30
October 6 - 7
October 13 - 14
October 20 - 21 (might be close to/past foliage)
If interested please post best and next best options for dates.
Summary
New Hampshire, foliage, stay a day or for two, good friends, fun, great driving, food, 2 hour drive, come alone or bring some friends.
Next Steps
Okay, there are your options (open to others). Everyone, post back with what dates work and if anyone has better ideas for a nice fall trip. Would really like to get some solid plans in the works earlier as things tend to get booked quickly for foliage season.
Cheers!

Hey all!
Posted in the main post an outline of a plan.
Now give me some feedback and suggestions for those who have some interest!
Need what dates work for everyone and if there is more interest for a 1 or 2 day trip to better accomodate everyone.
Also, spread the word!

Corey, from past experience, the first weekend in October would be best (6th/7th). I would definitely be down for whatever day you want to do it. I mostlikely wouldn't be able to do both days though. It is pretty amazing out there during the fall. Whenever you choose to go, let us know. I was a bit early on the foliage last year (last weekend in September). Still had some nice colors in the mountains but not so much at the bottom.
I have attached a good reference point for foliage. Not sure if you saw this site or something similar. Anyways, let me know when you plan to get it going!

Whoops, didn't even think to check that out. I would say to go the following weekend then, if it best suits it who is willing to go. Slightly later would be better than slightly sooner I think. Had someone on the MINIs of Boston page ask about it today, figured I see if we had a date so I can get let them know. I could take a poll on the facebook page to see who else is interested and when they would want to go.
Hey Corey, did you figure out a good date? I have 6 people interested for Oct 6-7 and 5 interested for Oct 13-14.

Sorry guys been crazy busy with work lately and there didn't really seem like a ton of interest in the trip. This weekend is a no go because of the holiday and weather though.
We are very likely to head up next weekend as long as the weather is halfway decent at least for the day. If anyone wants to tag along POST HERE so I know and we can coordinate with those interested.
Cheers
