Wanted: Motor for Cooper S

Thanks to an offtrack racing experience, I now get to replace the motor in my car. Anyone have a motor (or at least a block) available?

Waylen gets busy sometimes and it looks like he needs to catch up on some pm's, but it is worth a shot.

Did your NOS system have anything to do with the

offroad experience and motor issue ?

Hope you get things resolved without pain. But would like to know if your NOS had anything to do with this problem.

Good luck

The problem came from taking turn 2 at Willow Springs to hot, and ending up in the dirt. A rock cracked my oilpan, and before I new it the engine was gone. Looks like a need a rod kit and a crank kit, but it may be easier (and cheaper) to just get a new lower block.

Nitrous was not in play with this one....the tank was at home in the garage.

I was there, this is true understatement !!!!

Good Luck on getting the car fixed and back on the road, fortunately Steve will do it cheaper and better than just about anyone.

The lower half alone will not work. the block is machined as a unit with the two halfs bolted and torqued together for machining . an new half wont match up.[QUOTE=GClemons]The problem came from taking turn 2 at Willow Springs to hot, and ending up in the dirt. And I dont understand why you couldn't save the whole block and have it line bored, and go to oversized main bearings. Did it seize up or did you spin a thrust bearing ? Unless it got so hot that its warped beyond tollerance It should be ok to machine.

I am not going to use the new block, just the rods and crank. It is proving to be easier and less expensive to find a used lower block than order a new rod kit and crank.

I've been told that our engine is basiclly the same as a Dodge Neon. If this is true we could simply build a larger displacement Mini Engine. If I was told wrong let me know. Thanks
