WTB: "OLD" style armrest

I had the "old" style Mini armrest on order for 3 weeks before I found out that they will no longer ship them to the US. The one I am looking for is described here: http://www.motoringfile.com/2004/10/...mrest_reviewed

Part number is 52120154307.
If anyone knows how this can be ordered from Germany, let me know.

I have them and I bought it in the very first group buy. It is very good, fits the look inside the car and very comfortable. I also like the storage and its light weight but firm mounting that does not produce extra screaking noise, most important, it does not take up space at the rear like the newer designed one.

Thanks for the heads-up. Your prior post forced my call to the dealer about my order. I looked on ebay for this armrest but did not see any. I guess you have to look into ebay Germany somehow.
Can you tell me how I would even to begin to purchase from this ebay link?
Did you order one?

The guy has a buy it now button. (Are you seeing it in English). Once you buy it, send him an email through Ebay requesting shipping cost. Due to time diffirence it takes him about 2 days to get back to you. It was 38 Euros to ship to me on the West coast. When he replies he will also send you the instructions for the wire transfer. You need to take that to your bank and do the wire transfer.

The cost of arm rest + shipping turns out to be about $220, which is about the same it was supposed to cost me at the dealer with tax. The only additional expense is the cost of the wire transfer. My bank charges $10 for that.

And yes, I ordered mine. Doing the wire transfer today. Will keep you posted on how long it takes to arrive.

Thanks again for the quick response. I see some of the link in English. I will attempt this myself.

All,

I did receive an email back from the seller. I sent them a picture of the armrest that was on Motoring not the new one but the first version. Someone responded and said yet that was the armrest and that I need to wire the money to them.

"for shipping costs ( DHL) we need 39Euro.
You can pay with bank-transfer,for this you need our IBAN and BIC Code.
bankcosts are 7,50Euro."

Not sure what an IBAN or BIC code is but I sent an emai back asking for some more clarification. Does anyone know how long it will take to ship from Germany over to the states?

PM me if you need the IBAN and the BIC, I still have those. Luckily my wife deals with this all the time so she was able to explain it to me. I figured shipping shouldn't take longer than 1-2 weeks. Will let you know when mine gets here.

I received an email with the same extra 7.50 euro.
Total comes to 175.50 euro.
I haven't completed the ebay transaction yet. I am waiting until I transfer the money.

Drdave,

Any idea what the extra 7.50 euro is for? Its not that I really car becuase I have wanted the armrest ever since it was posted on Motortingfile. The new official armrest doesnt seem near as cool. I'm ok with spending the $200 plus the armrest seeing how I didnt think I would ever ge one.

I would venture a guess that the 7.50 is for the cost of an international wire. He probably does all of his buisness in Germany and we are the first (based on his feedback) from U.S. Since my bank charged me extra for the international wire, I would guess that his charged him to proccess the same wire and he is trying to recover the cost. I would also guess that he was not aware of the charge when I purchased mine 3 days ago and therefore no 7.50.

The timeline seems to work out, since I wired my funds yesterday and you guys are getting your invoices today.

No wire today

All,

Just went to my bank to do the wire transfer and was unable to do so as the bank seemed confused. They didnt know what any of the codes meant. I'm a little frustrated right now.

Today, I was finally able to get my bank to transfer the money (I hope). Kind of cumbersome because only a couple of people knew anything about the process. Hopefully, everything will complete successfully.

Big downfall was what my bank charges for the wire transfer - $38.

Total cost to me ended up being nearly $275. That is $45 more than my dealer was charging me.

Speaking of the dealer, when I called the other day to cancel my order, they issued a credit to my account. I received the receipt/order form cancellation in the mail today. What they originally charged me was $214.50 plus tax for a total of $229.52. On the form there are two areas marked out with black marker (but readable) - "Sugg. Retail: $195.00" and "Dealer Price: $124.50". Good grief, that is quite a markup.

So, if I figure this correctly, this purchase is costing me approx. $150 more than the part cost the dealer.

Not sure what you mean. His auction clearly states he will ship worldwide.

That figures. My bank charged me $35 for the transfer. They only charge $10 to their "prefered" account holders. I hear you on the total cost, but as far as I am concerned it's worth it. I like it a whole lot better than anything AM, or the new official arm rest, which by the way is still up in the air as far as getting it as a retrofit.

Interesting info on the dealer. Mine actually charged me $204 + tax. Bunch of crooks they are! But in the end, it doesn't matter what they charge for it, if they can't get it.

I just ordered the last one he had. I have done the same thing everyone else has I sent an email to get the shipping cost. I will keep my eye on this post to see that we all get our shipments. I'm here on the west coast as well so I'm sure the $38 Euros will be the shipping cost.

Hey guys,

Let's just keep in mind that this vendor is in Germany and looking at his Ebay feedback so is all of his business. I am sure it was somewhat of a shock to out of the blue receive a bunch of orders from US. A certain learning curve on his part is expected. That being said, I have emailed him and he did verify that he received the payment and that he has shipped the item. I will keep everyone posted on when I get it.

I did see a feedback from a German buyer who has already received his, but he purchased his 5 days before me.

Most of the problem seems to exist at our local banks. Seems like all of us got slightly different versions of what is required for a wire transfer. I also got a pm that said it is possible to arrange for an alternative method of payment. All you have to do is email the seller through Ebay. He does seem to speak English well enough, although it does take a couple of days for him to reply.

Hope this helps.
