JCW Suspension On!

So far so good.

I must say that it makes a major improvement in the overall driveability of the car.

Very pleased with this suspension.

Should be interesting to see how this suspension gets better over time.

Recommended highly for those that dont want to bother with coilover suspensions and want a firm complient ride.

Congrats. BTW, it took mine about 800 miles to really "settle down".

I will post some pics soon .. no doubt.

Chows4us ... thank you for the good information. It really helped me make the decision.

FYI, I had installed coilovers on my last ride, which was a 02 audiTTq. Having done that, I would never recommend anyone to get coilovers that were not serious about working with them. You really need to do a lot of adjustments in order to "get the correct ride". In my opinion they are a PITA.

This suspension upgrade, if anyone is questioning, should be a "no-brainer". Its the way it should come from the factory.

Just my 2 cents.

It's just generally more cranked down - higher spring rates and stiffer valving. You get a bit less roll, less fore and aft pitch under braking and acceleration, and less understeer bias. It's a bit more harsh at low speeds, but more composed at high speeds and nicely buttoned down as you approach the limit. And the springs are red. I dig it plenty.

One word ... Awesome!

XAlfa couldnt have said it better ... "I dig it plenty"

Like I said, this is the way it should have come from the factory. Also, I dont think it more harsh at low speeds, rather, I think it smoothed the ride out (for me).

Get it, you wont regret it.

Anyone know how the JCW springs compare with M7's?

So very glad to hear this. My CR/S MCS is coming in 4 weeks (I hope) and I agonized over whether to go with the JCW suspension. Went for it in the end and it sounds like I will be the happier for it.

Minibull2, have you noticed how the suspension deals with bumps and irregularities in mid corner? That is my biggest concern that the new springs and dampers are too stiff to effectively deal with northeaster roads when they are already compressed and working hard in a turn.

If you have to ask... Parts are ~$850 and install should be around 3 hours.

They will, but I challenge you to break a spring or bend a strut.

I will be able to give better feedback once I have put some miles on ... dealer installed ... mabye put on 10 miles on the way home.

However, those 10 miles were completely different than the 10 miles to the dealership that morning.

Total install with tax was around 1,250.00

Man, I really want to put the JCW suspension on.... I looked into the Koni FSD's, but i love keeping my car UNDER warranty. Seeing as how I purchased a (n overpriced) extended warranty, I don't want to void ANY part of it!

Does anyone know the spring rate for the JCW springs? What percent stiffer?

Don't bother to ask. JCW will tell you nothing although the springs are mated to the weight of the car based on your VIN.

Official MINI install time is 5 hours (believe it or not) including a 2 hour re-alignment. You're probably looking at around $1400 installed (more on the West coast) if you can't negotiate a discount.

The wife’s car had JCW suspension put on with less then 200 miles on the clock and I must say there was an improvement in the overall ride (bump jar/road noise), quite pleased with the outcome.

Question for Minibull2 what year is your car?, were the bump stops installed on the upper controll arm?

Thanks

Rocket,

I do not know since the dealer did the install.

I would hope that everything was installed that was supposed to be (no leftover bolts / haha).

Did you do the install yourself?
