Lowering Springs With Dynamic Damping?

I have a 24 JCW on order and was wondering if I can installing lowering spring? Nothing to crazy maybe one inch lowering. I usually run H&R but I see they don't offer any for the 24 JCW.

Thanks… Did see that a few weeks ago I’m still a little confused about the suspension. I think I was reading the newer ones have an electronic sensor on the top mount. I believe his is a few years old version.

No, the older ones have an adjustable suspension. The newer ones do not. The shocks have a self adjusting feature to soften the the ride. It actually has stiffer springs, but the shocks a re ver very effective in softening the effect of rough road surfaces and potholes. My car is a '22 JCW Hardtop and my 5th MINI and the new DDC suspension is a revelation. The "Miniac" installed some lowering springs and his car rides fine.

Thanks for clearing that up. I'm glad to hear no wires/harness on them.

So it seems H&R does make lowering springs part # 28813-1 which lower it 1.1" which will be better for me since this will be my daily driver.

Yep, its like FSD Konis is what I believe is in the system.

https://www.ecstuning.com/b-h-and-r-...et/28813-1~hr/ should fit unless MINI changed things again. The stock struts on the JCW should be stiffer then the Cooper S even with the newer design internal FSD like design.

I've debated this and thus far reckon 15mm is a good drop, and unless the lowering spring rates are significantly higher, the loss of compression travel can be a worry - but perhaps I am mistaken?

What is the compression stroke with the OEM setup? What remains after lowering 1.1" (28mm)?

Be lovely to have an expert opinion on this point....

Cheers,

Charlie

1.1" is the average lowering ~28mm H&R does minor drops due to not distributing the compression stroke. They don't have huge drops like other vendors to play it safe.

Some years ago I looked into a suspension refresh on another car of mine, not a MINI. Wanted to use the factory ROW (rest of the world) suspension which included springs to lower the car a bit. Suitable shocks were included.

When I asked senior techs about this they both advised me to *not* do this. Said for a daily driver the ride would be quite harsh. The ROW setup was really intended for track or areas where track smooth roads were the norm. Track smooth roads in my area at the time (Livermore CA) were not the norm. And in fact have not been the norm pretty much anywhere in at least portions of the western US where I drive.

I'd be much obliged for the answer to the question - if you have it.

"What is the compression stroke that remains after 1.1" lowering with DDC shocks?".

I've never been able to determine without measuring myself, which is a bit elaborate as I am sure you appreciate.

Pretty please?

Kind regards,

Charlie

I have a 2016 with DDC and have been running H&R 1.3 lowering springs for years with no issues.

Yours should have the electrical wires going to the top strut mounts? I know on the newer one they did away with the wires. Not sure that means anything with adding the springs. Can you post a picture of yours with the springs installed. Thanks
