JCW F56 JCW on order....
F56 JCW on order....
Well I semi-officially have a 2021 F56 JCW on order.
I went with Iconic Trim, Manual Trans and DDC.
Traditional Red and White with the Malt interior.
Only thing I'm still up in the air about is the 17" silver Track Spoke wheels or the 18" grey Style 534.
Test drove a 17" with DCC and in Mid-Mode it was a nice ride. Curious how much the ride suffers when going to the 18's?
I would ditch the Run Flats, so would that about equal the 17's with RFT's?

Pot holes; not the best but not the worst.
Yes, I did notice that not many tires are offered in that size. Although, the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3 Plus are. So would likely be what I'd get on there.

No fair, I ordered on 12/11/21 and mine just entered production last week!
On the wheel issue, there are some really excellent articles that speak to this issue and from what I can tell those who want to go fast and tight in the turns think the ride discomfort is worth it. Those who are in stop and go city traffic or highway driving with the cruise control, go for the smaller wheel as comfort in the car is the primary focus. (You can tell the "racers" from the "regulars" usually within a paragraph. Good luck!

I ran 15s on my R53, and always use a smaller diameter wheel if possible. My signature reflects the configuration of my fourth autocross Mini, making this my sixteenth year of competition with the NER SCCA.
I run that combination for light weight, good tire selection and best performance.
And yes, the 225/45, or the 215/45 in a 17" diameter do handle bumps with more grace than alternatives with less sidewall.
Cheers,
Charlie
I am going to have the opportunity to drive a Roadster on Thursday, so this should give me some real knowledge as opposed to YouTubers and reviewers articles. That was one of the things I struggled with when ordering, initially had summer runflat high perfomance tires in largest size on my build. After reading/watching I changed it to an all season with the thought that after driving should I want, I can then purchase the performance tires for summer.
Just to clarify, only a relative handful of 17" wheels will fit over the JCW brakes without spacers. The problem is depth (calipers sticking out too far and hitting the spokes), not the diameter with 17s.
The "562" wheels are 17" and 54mm offset and are, effectively flat-faced. They do not fit the JCW brakes.
The "502" wheels are 17" and 54mm offset and are basically indistinguishable from the 562s, *except* that the spokes bow out more (convex), allowing more room for the JCW calipers. They DO fit the JCW brakes.
On paper, they're the same diameter, width, and offset... but one fits the JCW brakes and one doesn't because of the spoke shape where they have to clear the calipers.
Just picked up my 2022 JCW 2 dr hatch. White silver with red roof. Black wheels. It’s awesome. Looking for someone to tell me what the icon that looks like a car (crooked) between two green lines means on the digital dash. Turns on at about 40 mph. Can’t find it in my manual.
