Had a 15 minute talk with Pombo in Grid just before Sunday Final Race. I had been talking to the Hyndai Manager about some stuff (we had both raced Mazdas) from yesterday. The Hyundais were penalized because of their speed and the BOD ECU was pulled and the Stock ECU installed AND 57 pounds added. They ended up being 3.5 seconds slower a lap and finishing near the back of the pack. I think the Data Loggers for The Race did a little too much to the Hyundais but that is racing...

Pombo and The Mini group didn't know exactly what the penalties were but I let them know. Pombo also got Pole Position and the other Mini was outside pole. Pombo spun and was knocked back to around 9th on first lap...worked his way back to 5th. The 17 year old HS Junior ended up winning. Wish I could figure out how to post a pic...

 

Pombo in TCA @ COTA 03/08/2020

 

I'm really bummed about how the TCR/TC/TCA races are setup this year. Last year it was really just TCR/TCA so they could show more TCA action. This year, at least with the last 2 races, there was hardly any TCA racing shown.

 

They did show some live streaming and had huge screens on the Front Straight during the race...it was good to watch

 

From these pictures, it's unbelievable to see how seriously these cars are abused. Body flex is so serious that there is not a single body panel still aligned with the next one.

 

The race is up on YouTube. I saw that the Hyundai got penalized. I also watched the last race of last season (on YouTube) which was at the Nevada speedway. Both Matt and Mark Pombo were in that race. Great fun to watch, but not the most fun lookin track. There were 4 MINIs in that race, but only 2 in this most recent COTA race. Any idea as to what happened to the other MINIs for this season?

This series will be coming to Lime Rock Park in May and I am hoping to see the MINIs there...

 

I looked on Youtube but couldn't fine it....seems all I ever find is the GT Blanc stuff and there are no MINI's in that field. Do you have a link, or tell me what to search. Thanks!

 

I have re-looked and can only find the qualifying video for these guys. Not sure if I remember wrong about seeing that the TC race having been posted (maybe confused it with last seasons races?) or did they do something with it to make it unfindable...

None the less, sorry for any confusion. I want to see it too...

I miss the old days when Speedvision on cable carried pretty much everything! Not much Nascar either, but that's ok. Thanks for the links! It's gonna be a long dry spell with no racing out there! Not sure if Supercross even races!
