Mid Ohio Sept 16-17

The final race of the season is just around the corner. RSR enters the race in third place in the driver's championship only 9 points back. Owen and Sarah will be gunning for their 2nd win of the season. Mid Ohio is a Mini friendly track. We have not won there but have always run up front.

After our 1-2 finish at New Jersey, Grand Am has decided that the Mini's were too fast and have placed 25 lb penalty on us. Hopefully, we will overcome this and bring home the championship. The cars have been running well and with a little luck . . .

Schedule: http://www.grand-am.com/assets/2011M...icialSched.pdf

Line ups:

195 Dicky Riegel and Chris Puskar
196 Ron Farmer and Jason Hart
197 Mark Congleton and Tom Dyer
198 Owen Trinkler and Sarah Cattaneo

The annual awards dinner will be at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland on Sunday night following the race.

The race will be televised on Sep 25, 12:00 PM ET, SPEED

Randy

In Grand-Am ST qualifying, Sarah Cattaneo put the Randy Smalley Racing/RSR Motorsports Mini on the pole for tomorrows race at Mid-Ohio with a 1:35.313, .017 seconds over the P2 i-Moto Mazda Speed 3. Good luck to everyone at RSR and Owen Trinkler and Sarah in the race tomorrow! Bring home that championship!

Tough way to finish the season for RSR Motorsports Minis, leading the race with 20 minutes to go and broke a shift cable, according to Owen :( The article below said a clutch failure, but Owen mentioned this morning it was the shift cable. Great job to Randy Smalley, Owen Trinkler, Sarah Cattaneo and all of the other drivers, crew and support people that worked with RSR and put in so much work to even get in position to win a title. Congrats all!

Yeah ... what a bummer!!

Especially the feeling in the pits when the 198 didn't show up @ the Carousel ...

But, it still was a great year working with the crew.

On to Daytona ................

Yeah, but you would say that wouldn't you. Its bad form to blame a sponsor.

Kinda like Ferrari never losing an engine, its a hydraulic failure.

It actually was a broken shift cable. We thought it was the clutch early on and that's what we reported to Grand Am. We've never had a clutch cable fail before so we didn't recognize it as such. We have some engineering work to do to correct this.

We pushed the cars like they have never been pushed before. Our plan was to win the championship or 'bust' . . . unfortunately, we busted.

One thing is for sure . . . no one left that race with any doubt as to who was the class of the field. We showed them nothing but tail lights all weekend.

'Lady Luck' took a bathroom break at the 2 hour mark and never returned!

DO NOT MISS the Speed coverage next Sunday (the date has been changed!) This was the most exciting Conti race ever.

Speed / Sunday Sept 25 at 1:00 Eastern

Definitely will be catching the broadcast on SPEED (the NASCAR channel).

Sorry to hear about the bad luck. On to 2012!

Good wishes to all for a fantastic season.

A most enjoyable delayed broadcast. The passing shown in the latter portions of the race by the MINIs was superb.

Thanks much to RSR for a great season full of thrills. Makes me proud to motor in a MINI. Can't wait for next year.

Wow! What a performance by the drivers and team.....sad to see the 198 fall out. Wished SPEED had mentioned why the 195 had fallen back.

Congrats to the RSR guy's! Good luck next year..
