Brembo GT Big Brake Kit

Has anyone replaced their factory JCW BBK with the Brembo GT BBK? Overall diameter is larger by 10 mm. Pistons remain the same with 4. The biggest advantage I see is the two piece rotor for weight savings. Does anyone have experience with the GT kit?

Someone on the forum with MCS installed these instead of the JCW Brembos below

He has since sold the car I believe... Not read anyone who has replaced the JCW brakes with them though

Biggest disadvantage I see is shelling out $3500 when you already have Brembo brakes.

I agree. I'm not a fan of heavy one piece all steel rotors/hats, which is why I'm considering these. I'm going for unsprung weight reduction. I have a set of HRE R40 wheels on order, and already have a complete set of TiKore titanium lugs. A two piece BBK will be the next step. I do agree they're pricey, but not as pricey as Brembo's GT R kit for the F56 ($7500)

Yea, if you have the JCW brakes, the big change is the weight and the two piece rotor, GTR are big money and they are a little higher in price on the BMW side, but not by much. Machined Billet monobloc 4 piston caliper.

They look awesome on Pertplus's MINI linked above.

Here is one of the pics.

They look really good on the PertPlus's car. Even though the rotor is slightly larger in diameter compared to the stock JCW BBK, it looks like the annulus on the GT BBK is smaller. Is that the case, and would that reduce stopping power in exchange for a lighter rotor?

Also, would the GT BBK caliper require more clearance that the factory JCW BBK caliper?

Nelly, if I can recall correctly i believe the JCW pro needed more clearance. The calipers on those bad boys are chunky. I'll try to find the original thread where they were fitting the BBK on different setups.

Sad news, they won't fit. My wheels are 18x8 ET 45, and I'd have to run a 3mm spacer to clear the Brembo GT BBK Calipers. That's unfortunate because I was ready to throw these on the car. If only they offered this 2-piece rotor with a slightly thinner caliper.

Are you sure they wont fit? I have seen a set of enkei ts10 which have a similar flat spoke surface design in 18x8 et45 on a f56 jcw and seem to fit so you may get away without small spacer

I haven't tried to fit the Brembo kit myself, but HRE looked at the measurements of the GT kit and said it won't fit without a 3mm spacer. Apparently the GT kit caliper is slightly wider than the OEM JCW Brembo Caliper.

For $8K, there is not much metal left on the surface LOL.

What is the cost to replace both rotors if wrapped?

I believe, very few are ready to spend that much money on brakes.
