I bought the same fasteners that hold the sides of the diffuser to the bumper. They looked like the would work.

Ah cool! Yup that's what I used albeit from Lowes since its a mile from home.

Interestingly after driving home tonight in light rain conditions at highway speeds the under panels and back of the car were wet but both diffuser tunnels are near perfectly dry. Hard to tell from the picture and not scientific but I found it interesting nonetheless.

Interesting...moving enough air that it dried them? Do I spy a touch of carbon wrap on the center section? More please

I wouldn't be surprised. If I drive in the rain my boot lid is almost completely dry when I get home.

Doing the $40 resonator delete on Thursday, then will order the diffuser next month.
Ah okay. I'll keep you updated with my order.

UPDATE!!! I edited the section on aligning the tunnel brackets. After a few PM's I got, it seems it's a crap shoot getting them centered, so I changed that. I also added a part at the end on what you need and how to attach the tunnels to the under body panels, if you have them.

I hope everyone is enjoying their diffusers, and I hope those waiting get theirs soon.

Dang, those tips really stick out, they definitely compliment the diffuser.

For those who ordered from the BMW parts store, did the shipping change later? It says it might in the checkout box.

The diffuser has arrived. Now I have to find some time to fit it. I've also got an IR position sensor I'm going to see if i can turn into a ride height sensor. That'd tell me if this thing is at all functional.

I was the first to order from there and they said they would ship it at the latest by the middle of this week. Still no response. I emailed them today. And I don't know my final shipping costs either.

I almost hit the buy button on the "thebmwpartstore" before I saw your last post. Did they tell you that they had them in stock. Website doesn't say. Will wait till you update us. Thanks.

Nah, I don't think they have an inventory of parts. They order on an as-needed basis. I assume from Germany. Yeah, good thing you saw my post. Hold off for now. If this falls through, I have a back up plan.

No one seems to be ordering from the dealership. Are they too far away? The shipping is free and it should get there in about a week. I don't get it.

I received my order from Outmotoring this week. Haven't unboxed it yet. Can't wait.

My plan was to make mine a little unique by painting the diffusor in Chili Red to match the stripes on the hatch but after Photoshopping someone else's Coupe with their stripe color on the diffusor, I realized it doesn't really look very good. So if anyone on this thread was thinking about painting theirs, think twice.

So to everyone: Don't order from thebmwpartstore yet. I'll let you guys know how it is first.
Thanks for the heads up. Hopefully you don't have any issues but sometimes when something seems too good....

Yes it would , I would hesitate to do around the exhaust section tunnel as the constant heat for the exhaust might cause the wrap to peel away . But the other locations would be fine.

The carbon fiber wrap we carry by 3M is great stuff.

Maybe gives you some ideas for the future.

What about PlastiDip on the last few inches to color-code the visible parts to the car?

Update from thebmwpartstore:

Waiting on one last part to show up. Sorry about the delay on all of this. It's a bit difficult to get these new parts so quickly, so I thank you for your extreme patience. As soon as it arrives I'll email you a shipping quote.

I was thinking I might need to paint it, the wife wasn't sure about leaving it black. But after seeing a GP for real at MINI Thunder she thinks black will be fine.

I'm not sure how well paint would stick to the plastic its made of anyway.

Did mine a few weeks ago. I only did the center portion. Mainly for a couple reasons. One being it'll be next to impossible to wrap the entire bumper piece with one seamless sheet and I can't stand seams. Way to many severe compound curves and two, it'll get pounded by road debris.

I chose the exhaust surround to break up the outline of the diffuser tunnels a bit. Also, no this stuff will not be effected by the exhausts heat. I've used it in far more extreme temp areas and it holds up great.
