Long Story Short, we have a 2011 Clubman S and love it to death. But fate decided to put the back bumper of it and the front bumper of a Corolla in the same place at the same time and so now we have a practically brand new car with $8k worth of damage on its record.

So should we:

1. Keep the car and take whatever settlement money we get and mod it with a JCW kit and move on with life. (Any input on people who have dealt with diminished value claims on their mini please speak up.

or

2. Trade the car in on another mini that hasn't been crashed (I have found a 2010 Rally Edition Clubman which I think might have the JCW kit, but can't tell from the pictures and wonder if anyone knows what to look for or has pictures to help compare to).

Any thoughts are appreciated!

I have the JCW aero kit on my clubman.

Different bumper, more aggressive

 

Aero kit doesn't mean it has the JCW kit. There are bases with Aero kits as well as JCWs with the regular body style.

It definetly has the body kit, but it's the exhaust tips that make me wonder, since they look bigger than whats on my Clubman.

Kevtar, that car does not have a JCW tuning kit installed. [At first I thought you meant the JCW aero kit since you were talking about bumper damage.] If it had the tuning kit, you would have the engraved JCW exhaust tips and the badge under the hood with the engraved serial number. Here are some pics for reference:

 

I wonder if it has a magnaflow exhaust.

 

They could be just different tips. Need to see pics of mufflers.

That is a standard air box and no JCW badging.

There is NO JCW tune kit.

 

The best place to validate if the JCW tuning kit is installed is in the engine bay. If it had the JCW tuning kit installed, it would have the JCW-badged airbox, there would be a JCW tuning kit serial# badge on the valve cover, and there would be another engine bay label with the spark plug change info that is specific to the JCW tuning kit.

That clubman does not have the JCW tuning kit.

 

I have the same 2010 Rally Edition and it's impossible to ID the package and what was included using the VID number alone, you have to have the window sticker from the car and most dealers will not want to bother with researching it and Mini USA can do nothing, since their all independently owned dealer.
