JCW w/ MINI Connect issues

Picked up my 2011 JCW a few days ago and have not for the life of me been able to figure out how to get my iPhone 4 to output video onto the screen . I watched the youtube video that shows it working but so far its a No-Go for me. I tried the USB cable that came with my iPhone and the one that they sell at the MINI dealership and both play the music but no video . Anybody had any luck with this?

One other issue has been with the bluetooth connection between the car and my iPhone 4. Pairing was great the day of pick up (go friggin' figure ) but every day after has been hit and miss (mainly with bluetooth audio connection). Even when the iPhone is not plugged into the USB input MINI Connect says that it is connected via USB and disconnects the bluetooth audio . I have unpaired and paired the phone again with no luck. Anybody else had this similar issue?

Love the other features of Mini Connect but these two things are becoming a bit irritating.

I wish I could help but I have yet to take delivery of mine. I'll be real curious to follow your experience. I have a 3GS--hopefully I have better luck.

So just to be clear, you are connecting via the USB cable and not the armrest dock?

Make sure the parking brake is set. I read from another owner that the parking brake must be engaged in order to play video.

Are you using the USB below the radio or the one in the glove box?

Also Biggripper is correct, video is disabled when driving or when not in park as required by law.

Using the USB below the radio (did not know there was one in the glove box ) I have tried the cable that cam with my iPhone and the one I purchased from the dealer w/ and w/out the parking break engaged and no luck . Maybe the cables that you guys are getting in the states are different from the ones that they have over here? I am hoping someone will post a picture of the cable that you all are receiving in the states. Appreciate the support and help guys .

Yadigme,

So just to confirm, your MINI is equipped with MINI Connected and not just visual boost? You were not supplied with a black Y cable? Does your car have an arm rest with a phone dock and have you tried it?

As far as I know the U.S. cars are supplied with a black Y cable that features a dock connector at one end and a Y at the other end that features a USB and a stereo mini jack.

The USB port in the glovebox is only used for applying software updates to the system.

I do have MINI Connect but was not supplied with the cable you guys are talking about. I did purchase one at the dealership though. My car does have the armrest but the connector for the armrest did not come with the vehicle and they wanted about 140 euro for it so that was a No-Go LOL!

Yadigme,

I'm at a loss. My ability to troubleshoot at this stage is pretty limited (don't have my car yet) and is really only based on stuff I've learned here on NAM and via the MINI Connectedwebsite.

Do you live anywhere close to a dealership?
