JCW Engine Tuning Kit - Unique?

I was searching for a discussion thread about the JCW Engine Tuning Kit's uniqueness and I couldn't find one, so I thought I'd start a one.

I was wondering how many of us have it, when it was installed, on what it was installed, and what the Engine Tuning Kit # was that was installed.

Zanary, I PM'd you last week regarding the price of install on this kit, and explained the situation I was in. I am getting mine installed on friday. I will let you know the engine kit # then. I have the same vehicle as you, 2009 MCS IC yellow conv. with IC yellow leather/cloth interior. The end result is the kit is costing me 400.00. I could not pass that up. The dealer was going to install factory sirius satellite radio free of charge. They quoted me 1200.00 if I was to pay. They agreed to do the JCW tuning kit for 2200.00 including tax installed. This is a difference of 1000.00 minus 600.00 I got from mini for all of my troubles with my radio over the first 4 months of ownership. I hope I am happy with the increased performance and sound. I will let you know. I also recently did some interior stuff. Very happy with the results. Sorry pictures are not great quality. Better ones are posted in the interior section here, in thread "Carbon fiber inner door pulls installed". It would not let me post again.

Got it installed today. Definitely louder, sounds good. The tips are very nice and larger than the stock S tips. It is a little quicker, and now can here the blow off valve which is kinda cool. Kit #R56S04303 2009 R57 Installed today February 26, 2010.

As the first automatic in this thread....

2009 MCSa, installed 12/15/08 (6 weeks after delivery on 11/5/08), kit #R56S03816 (see gallery)

$2250 installed by dealer and rolled into loan. Evidently now the VDCs will install the kits. However, I'm glad I had the stock car to drive to compare once I got the kit. No comparsion, no regrets!

Hmm. so we have so far

Nov 2006 - 779
Dec 2008 - 3816
Jun 2009 - 4244
Jan 2010 - 4298
Feb 2010 - 4303

Interesting to see between 2007 and 2009 there were just over 3000 kits installed, and then the numbers really dropped off with less than 500 till today.

Of course with more data, we'll be able to see some more interesting trends I would think.

So if I'm reading this correctly, your install date was Sept 30, 2009 but you're kit # is 4711. Something is wrong as the numbers and dates don't match up to what everyone else has reported.

Most of those have to be manuals. kits on automatics are few and far between; my dealer has only done one other since I Had mine installed 12/09.

Hmm, can you verify that number from your certificate with the badge installed on your engine cover. If both the date and numbers are correct, then I guess they aren't sequential...

Hmm, that's whatI thought when I read his response first, but then his certificate had R56 in it, so I assume it's a Gen 2 Hardtop...

Correct, it is a Gen 2 R56 hardtop in mellow yellow/black roof, yellow colour line interior and manual box. It is a very early build and was the first one that a large BMW dealership here got in. Our baby was built in Dec 06 and complianced in Feb 07 (took a while to get to Australia). That is according to the build sticker and the compliance plate.

Definitely a R56, has the snail on the front of the motor and the kit is genuine, certificate, badges and ID plate to go with it.

By the way, I am still the first to have one in this thread so far.

Fitting is probably not sequential, the delivery to the dealer of the kit may be but then the kit may sit on the shelf of a warehouse for a long time.

I had the tuning kit installed on my 2007 yesterday and I picked it up from the dealer today. (Had to wait for the vinyl guy to install the new side stripes.)

I was a little surprised to see the emblems on the car were the older JCW logo design, but I'm kit #2271, so maybe there's a stockpile of pre-07/08 build date kits.

I've updated the 1st post with all the years, install dates, and kit numbers. I also included the three that were automatic transmissions.
