my ' 09 automatic clubby has kit r56 s 04888 and was installed on 2/18/10. For some reason they do not distinguish between the r56 and r55 cars when it comes to the kit numbers

You can add me to the list and I have a sequential number with someone else. Odd that my tuning kit number is so low since it was just installed. I guess the 07 kits are on a shelf somewhere. This was done at a brand new dealer so they had to order from Mini.

Hmm, that's weird. The actual JCW Engine Kit number is on the little badge that is screwed to the top of your engine. For example, the below image is where it is located on my R57 (and I'm guessing everyone else in this thread)
Is that where you're reading the D 5768 number of the JCW000195 serial number?

Sorry man. I don't know what to tell you. Is it possible you have a Factory JCW instead of a "S" with the JCW Engine Tuning Kit (aka Stage 1 Kit)?
What color are your brakes?
What color is the button pattern on your manual shift ****?
What is the top speed on your speedometer?
On the tops of your exhaust tips, do you see the JCW Logo or not?
