Ready to attempt rear fog light toggle switch install

I have my rear fog lights comming along with a toggle witch. I need to go get the new switch cover (P/N: 64113442594). I've read the only instructions available for this but there are still some steps later in the process that don't have pictures and seem a little vauge to me.

For all those who have done this, are there any pitfalls that you wished you knew about? Also, are the screws around the air vents supposed to be removed as well? Ayone have any additional photos? Thanks.

Well, I've never done this (so I have no advice to give), but I've been wondering if it could be done. Be sure to let us all know how it goes!

Well, you're getting a new switch and a switch cover, so it sounds like you've got the mechanical parts of the project covered.

I don't know if the R56 is the same as the first-gen cars in this respect, but I know that with the older cars, after you installed the switch and the rear fog lights, you had to have the car's computer reprogrammed at the dealer to tell it you have rear fog lamps. This is because the toggle switches don't control the accessories directly - they just send signals to the car's computer, and the computer actually handles turning the accessories on and off. If the computer doesn't know that you have rear fogs installed, it will just ignore the signal from the rear fog toggle switch.

Here are the only instructions I've found. I'm hoping someone here has done this and can expand on them.

Looking at the very last line of the directions, it appears that the R56/R55 still require a trip to the dealer to have the rear fog lamp feature activated in the car's computer after you've finished the physical installation & wiring.

OK, I know I need it reprogrammed, that is easy. Putting in the 2 lights in back is also very, very easy.

I want to know if anyone has added the switch and if they have any additional pointers or regrets that are not already in the instructions above.

Also, what type of bulb goes in there?

Thanks for the bulb pic - that's what I needed. I also finally found this awesome video on how to take everything apart:

The fog lamp assemblies come with bulbs included. This is typical for lighting parts sold by MINI, and the instructions mentioned earlier does say bulbs are included.

So are there any other relatively inexpensive retro fits I should do at the same time while everything is apart? Like Bluetooth, USB or iPod?
