I've found an 03 with the JCW package

Seems like a really good price for a "real" JCW. Does it come with the JCW paper work to back that up? Good luck getting your Mini!

the badge will be on the valve cover on the very top left hand corner, normal ones say mini, the jcw has the jcw logo, also you can call mini usa, or a local dealer and give them the vin they will tell you whats on them

rynegold,

All early JCW's were installed at the dealer. the kit was about 5.5k and labor at most dealers ran 2 or 2.5k....pretty much all 02-03 JCW's cost around 7.5k out the door. In 04 maybe late 03 they started to offer it as a factory option, meaning it you specd it that way and it showed up at the dealer JCW for 6.5k, the fact that it was a "factory option" rather than "dealer accessory" made it a tad more affordable. Though those were probably done at VDC (port) you could still kit the dealer kit but it cost more due to the shop rate labor involved with installation. There is no difference in content in the kits from 02 thru 06 except for the fact that in 05 the SC no longer needed replaced because the special teflon coating on the blades was standard issue on 05 andon models, earlier models got a new SC when JCW was fitted. The all new 08 JCW is a different thing all together. It is not only factory built but it is treated as a whole diffrent model on the configurator....and obviously the content of the kit is different

The value is a relative matter...pick up the news paper, check cars.com....etc Look at the market determine what the market price is for similar cars. Decide how much a JCW is worth to you in premium over market value...decide how much that sunroof is worth to you...etc It will either start to look good or not so good of a deal and then make an offer accordingly.....information is the key to good decisions
