Because the Mini is so retro I feel a nice touch to the interior is a cue call shift ****, in off white ofcoarse. I wondered that if noone is making them could you just use a new cue ball, have the hole tapped out and go from there. What do you guys think about this

I'll second the Doug Whalen suggestion. His also have his excellent quick release attachment system that's just about bulletproof.

One of the things that I noticed about a billiard ball shift **** as opposed to a metal shift **** is that for some reason my billiard ball **** doesn't seem to get as cold or as hot as my billet **** does. Dunno why, whether it's a density thing or possibly a perception thing or what, but I've noticed it on a number of occasions.

It's strictly a thermal conductivity thing.

Everything inside the car is actually at the same temp.
It's just that any type of metal is going to transfer heat or cold from itself to your skin MUCH faster than plastic, leather and rubber materials.

There's quite a few of us pool ball shift **** MINI folk around. I'm behind the eight ball myself. Thanks Doug.

Perhaps we should start an "owners clubs".

Thank you so very much guys, but after seeing the striped ball I may want to get a #14 or #6 In the one pic from the link there's (2) #10's and one is bigger, is Dougs the larger one on the right and the regular cue on the left? This one mod that I've gotta do and if I decide on the regular cue ball, I'm going to have him engrave the shift pattern in black. Now all I need to know is can he do this for the R56

The one on the right is the Whalen ****, standard billiard size, the smaller one on the left is the cheap **** and NOT standard billiard size....it is only 2" across and is actually SMALLER than the OEM shift ****. They Whalen is PERFECT size. Actually drove the car for the first time today, sitting for almost 4 months while working on the interior renovation

As soon as Doug gets a hold of an R56 ****, he will have them available....so yes, it can and will be done for the R56

This has me thinking a red circle cue ball might be interesting.

I'll probably replace mine with a Whalen once the R56-compatibility is settled. I'm not fond of the stock ****.

This is great, I have the perfect billard ball that I would love to have as a shift ****. I hope someone can show how I can get this done once I get my MINI in April/May.

arrrrgghhh. You guys. A CUE ball is the white ball, the other ***** are just billiard ***** So, if it has a red, green, yellow, blue, etc, stripe on it, it is just a striped billiard ball, LOL!!!

Again, everyone considering a billiard ball shift **** should for sure go to Doug Whalen....I believe he is the MASTER, and you truly get what you pay for. You will see when you have it in your hand!!!!

Ah, but I was referring to a red-circle cue ball.

The Aramith Pro Cup ball would be interesting too, but a bit goofy, IMO.

And don't forget carom and snooker ***** as options -- solid red, solid yellow, some snooker sets even have solid colors for the first 8 *****.

I remember making one from a red circle cue ball.

Don't remember the fellow's name, though.

Thanks Mr. Whelen

Please let us know when they're available as I'm sure you'll cover your start up costs to do this within 5 minutes of their release! I like the idea of a plain, offwhite cue ball in the middle of all that carbon/black leatherette and chrome trim, will stand out alot and look great doing it, thanks again
