'06 Union Jack Rear View Cap

I've seen it discussed before and just had to share
I got my Union Jack Rear View Mirror Cap on today and it looks great
For those with (IIRC) '05 and newer models the part number is 51 16 0 412 519. I had originally ordered the part out of the German Accessories catalog but there's a mis-print and the part was actually for the older models
Anyway, the parts department found the right part for me and the number's listed above. I don't know if US dealers will be able to get the part or not, but hope this helps anyway

Apologies for the glare....

And a close-up....

Awesome looking. I have the checkerboard one on order (it's back ordered) for my wife's '05 MCSa. I have already installed the checkerboard covers on her outside mirrors. How was this inside one to install? Does the mirror disassemble from the post? Thanks..

Sorry, forgot to take "Before" pics.
The cap has a "Slot" in it that the post hides. You slip it up and on, then pull the plastic off of the adhesive that runs around the edge

EDIT: If the attachment works, then the dotted area is approx. where the cutout is.

HTH

rhawth99 - I second that question. I would love know where to get the checkerboard one and how much it was? I am not going with the checkerboard mirror caps - but I think the review mirror would work nicely. Thanks!

So, I will be calling the dealer soon to order the checkerboard cover, where did you get it that had a back order?

The Union Jack rear view mirror cap can be order from your dealer. I'm pretty sure the checkerboard can also be order, just need part #.

I ordered all of the checkerboard mirror covers from morristownmini.com - they were having a 20% off sale. The sale was supposed to end on 2/28/06 but last I checked, they still show 20% off (don't know if it's correct or not). I received and installed the outside mirror covers but the inside cover is on back order. I will have to send them an email to check on ETA. You can check the morristown website (under accessories tab) for the correct number for your vehicle.

As of today the rear view cap is $39.60 at Morristown Mini. They have a Union Jack & checkered with or without auto dim but if you have the garage door opener it will not work. They have one for years 2003 to 06/2004 & one for 07/2004 to 2006.

When MINI offers an American flag cap, I'll be all over it.

Anybody put on the Union Jack covers on the outside mirrors that has an HB colored MINI? I've been wondering how that looks, especially with the silver U stripe and roof. Pics would be most appreciated if you have this combo with the UJ covers. BTW, Morristown MINI has the checkerboard inside mirror cover for at least the 07/2004 and newer models back in stock - I just ordered this morning to complete my wife's MINI checkerboard madness look.

$45 dollars later and all i get is a lousy cover??!?! i was expecting a whole new half of a mirror casing for 45 bucks!!!!

nonetheless, i love the way it looks on my car.

I have absolutely NO color on the outside of the car, so this is a nifty little touch of color, while showing off my roots!!!

Why won't it work with the garage door opener? Is it a fitment issue or will the garage door opener just not be useable? I don't use the garage door opener anyways.

Sorry I don't know the details. That's just what the product description said on the Moss Mini website.

That looks great!

plus the DS caps are so much smoother than the white ones - great choice!

I may have to pick up one of those UJ caps - slick!

Got my checkerboard rear mirror cover earlier this week. I think this is the last checkerboard can add. I like it.
