Clear bra installation, Baltimore area

Hi,

The more I read the better a clear bra sounds. Does anyone know of reputable, quality installers in the Baltimore area?

Thanks,

Paul

HPR Racing in Glen Burnie http://www.hprcustoms.com/
I was quoted $500 vice $1200 at Proform (who teaches the dealers how to install it). Quality Job? Dunno, didnt have it done but they did my tinting and an excellent job

far cheaper than the dealer or the Proform in EC.

Proform in Ellicott City (http://www.proformauto.com) are the ones who do the installs for MINI of Towson.

Did you read Post #2? or the other Clearbra threads in the DCMM forum?

Don't know if they are "better", but they sure are CHEAPER.

NP. I was looking around for clearbra to be done and got disgusted with the high prices until I found HPR. Never did get it done but their tinting work is excellent. Several BMWs in there while I was there

Got my clear bra done by Proform. I am happy with it, but I guess getting it for less would have been nice.

I'll have to check out HPR for tinting, I drive by there often but have never gone in.

I don't know about all that...my car was at Towson and a dude came out from Profrom to put mine on..and it was $550..doesn't seem like a rip off... now your $1200 is a rip off. Maybe that was old quotes

Just because they gave you a quote that was higher than all the others doesn't automatically make them a rip-off you know. I've talked with the guy who does the installs for Towson and they actually put quite a lot of work behind the product they install.

They have actually spent time developing their own template for installs and correcting small defects/problems in the template that they originally used. As I think was also mentioned is the 3M product they use is thicker than the OEM MINI kit, so there is a couple more mils of thickness for some added protection.

I actually have an upper kit installed by the Proform guys and it looks nice. I didn't actually have to pay for it to get installed though (long story involving mis-speced car, fault of dealer) so I can't comment too much on the price but something tells me this is one of those pay for what you get situations.

I personally would rather trust the guys at proform and pay a premium because that's all they do, they specialize in the paint protection/clear bra installs, than go to a local tint/customizing shop and have them do something they do (maybe) a few times a month. (It is my guess that the company you mentions, HPR Customs, doesn't do many installs as it's not even listed as a service on their web page. You would think if it's something they do a lot of they would mention it.)

I talked to proform since they are up the street from in EC. Quote on different days, talking to different ppl was always $1200. $600 for each half. I did not talk to Towson but maybe should have

$1200 vs $500 is huge to me ... maybe not to others but it is to me.

HPR does a massive business. Its a big Speed Shop in Glen Burnie doing all kinds of work from custom exhausts to, I guess, Clear bra. I watched as they went to the computer and brought up the custom cut pieces and they have the machines to cut the material. Is it as good as Proform?

I said: Quality Job? Dunno, didnt have it done

I do know that if I wanted any kind of work normally done at a speed shop I wouldnt heisitate to use them again.

If I recall correctly , Saakey only had the bonnet (upper kit only) Proform install done at MoT(pre-delivery), not the lower bumper kit. That would certainly account for the price difference. I got the Proform Full Kit, pre-delivery, and paid $995.00.
