Interior/Exterior You-ification: show 'em

I've always wondered why more people haven't done this kind of Mod. IMHO, this dash piece is SCREAMING for custom paintwork or vinyl. Very nice!
If I could find an old-school pinstriper (an artist w/ paints and brushes... not just a vinyl decal application person), I'd pick 2-3 colors from the car and bring it all together right here.

Blimey Union Jack Grille
I'm going gonzo on Union Jack-ification on my cool blue cabrio, Blimey. I'm up to 18 so far, and have 4 more planned short term. The newest is (I think) the coolest - my custom UJ painted bumper grille.
I got a replacement grille with the tow eye cover from Morristown Mini for about $35. I carefully cut out just the visible part of the grille with my scroll saw and filed the edges smooth. Then sanded it a little and wiped it down with paint thinner. Then painted it white with Krylon Fusion plastic paint, then masked and painted the red stuff, then masked again and painted the blue (allowing dry time for each, of course). Then pulled all the masking off and hand painted the bottoms of the "solid" cells (near the sides and top) with black model paint. Then touched up as needed with red, white and blue model paint. Then several coats of clearcoat. Total project time about 6 hours plus waiting / drying time. Total cost about $60.
I drilled a few discreet holes in some solid cells of the stock grille on the car, and can zip-tie this grille on top of the stock one. Looks like it belongs, but can easily be affixed and removed in about 5 minutes so I can put it on for rallies and take it off for daily driving (because, around here, this would be asking to get keyed or worse...).

Who wouldn't notice ??!! That's an eye-grabbing MINI you've created. Not that it wasn't a beauty to begin with. But now it's ready for car shows.
Mind you, this is coming from a diehard Eagles fan who sees Dallas Cowboys when looking at that MINI. Yikes !!

There is a ProMINI event in Tyler Texas on March 24, which is only 30 miles from my house. I will be cleaning up my MINI and actually trying to participate for the first time this year. My first car show...we'll see how it goes.

That's a good point. The color isn't so much what reminds me of the Cowboys as much as the stars within the stripes. That, and the Texas license plate, of course.
Since you weren't aiming to make it look like the Official MINI of the Dallas Cowboys, we can still be friends.
I'm sure your first carshow will garner you lots of "ewwws" and "ahhhhs" on the 24th of next month. Good luck !!

Matt,
If your MINI was a twin and the two of them were separated at birth (VDC) and then ran into each other today, they wouldn't recognize each other.
That's a lot of mods... pretty COOL mods, at that. And you've been so kind as to post "how to" threads on a lot of them (I've used a couple of them myself). Thanks for that !!

Love the Jordan IV's and the Jumpman + Flight logo! I had two pairs of those white/green IV's, but sold them w/o ever wearing them. Now all I have left (as far as AJ IV's go) are 2 pairs of CG IV's, 1 pair of blackcat IV's and 1 pair of white/red/black laser IV's.

thanx, i stole the idea for the stripes from someone on here. what you cant see is the flat black stickers all along the bottom of the left and right sides.
also check out the mini madness stage 2 on the rear and engine. pretty soon i'll finish my blackout job, and show my custom sub box. (crappy paint at this time wont let me)
