You-ification: show 'em

I want to see what one off mods you've engineered to make your MINI truly one of kind (Or a clever DIY you chose to share with the rest of us), what have you created that can't be bought from a vendor, what is above and beyond bolt on mods. I can think of a few, and I'm working on my own right now so I thought I'd see what everyone else has come up with, points for originality and functionality, though pure bling is good too.

I have a tiny wooden bobble-head turtle from the Dominican Republic on my dashboard -- far from bolt-on, he's secured by Velcro! I figure he and the plastic Ibix (rescued from the parking lot of my favorite lunch spot) crammed in the dash vent are good for at least 5bhp...

I glued some black tray liner to my glovebox organizer to keep stuff from rattling and shifting around. Would have been easier without the glue...

Custom squiggly road decal from Todd Pearson:

I also had Todd make up some more durable toggle switch decals; the paper ones in the welcome kit were aging too quickly:

That's about it for now, but I'm interested to see what others come up with!

Does anyone remember the Koosh Ball?
http://www.geriatric-resources.com/a...ages/Koosh.JPG
(why was the first site google came up with for the koosh ball an assisted living website?)

I keep one mounted in the right cup holder. Its been through every car I have ever owned. Even the ones I have wrecked...

My MINI is recognizable from all the rest by five unique features:

1) shorty antenna (S2000 type)

2) brakelight mod using rear fogs (...gonna switch those bulbs out for LEDs!!)

3) chrome John Cooper badge on the boot opposite the regular Cooper badge. A tribute of sorts.

4) a simple DIY for night driving...masking off the spill light on my rear plate so that only the plate is illuminated. I used simple electrical tape...I've re-applied it once over three years. Looks cool, correct, and better (imo) w/o light raking over that dusty boot.

5) this one isn't an addition...I've just chosen to keep my 7-hole wheels (not something one sees all that often)! I was won over years ago because of the OEM look (which I prefer), their lightness (makes a Cooper very nimble), and watching them go like snot on club class John Cooper Challenge MINIs. Sold me!!! R81 and proud, baby!!!

A you-ification note: one can you-ify by adding things, but one can also you-ify by not adding things. As an example...I've chosen to not have bonnet stripes. Nowadays so many local MINIs have stripes, I find I'm suddenly unique!!! Just a tip for those considering your own you-ification projects.

click info and check out my illuminating coin holder.

but please, no more PM's on this. it's a generic LED powered by a lithium battery taped on the side with a 'normally open' momentary switch.

the switch i made out of a ball point pen.

I love how you've taken your MINI and completely made it yours. It's so unique. BTW, did you know those horns could be dangerous?

I'm hoping one day my MINI will have such a unique personality like yours.

the ICE looks great. Aren't you worried about losing an eye on the horns?

I kinda like that chrome dash ...but do you get a lot of reflections back in your eye, from the sun or different lights outside? And how and the hell did you get that done..and cost?

No reflections or glare. It was a closeout part at either MINIMania or Moss Motors. It goes over your dash, held on with 3m tape.

I'm thinking of experimenting with metal mesh to replace the black plastic mesh grills if that counts. I've even looked at some from a craft store, I just need to figure what'll hold up well and look nice. I just don't have time for it until, hmm, next year?

Oh - I'm a solid color MINI with no stripes which is somewhat unique.
