Removed my stripes!

Just removed the Black Stripes from my '06 MCS PW/B yesterday. Am getting some very wide Viper style stripes installed this weekend. The removal of the factory stripes went very well and no damage done. With my fingernail was able to get a corner started and then started pulling at a low angle back over the remaining stripe. Most of the stripes came off very well except for about a 6" x 4" area of sticker residue on both sides, just outside the hood scoop. Used a product called "GOOF OFF" and a soft cotton rag to remove the remaining goo. At first I thought it was not going to come off very well but, then the goo started to ball up and come right off. Got most of it off and then with a light looked over the area, had a haze on the paint in the area. Used another clean spot on the rag with fresh GOOF OFF and the haze also cleaned right off. Then waxed the entire bonnet with Zymol polish and it turned out good as new minus the stripes.
Car looks like a different car with no stripes.
Wife says, "I don't like it, get some stripes."
So, am getting some new bigger and bolder stripes installed on the front and back this weekend. Will post some photos of the new stripes.

Glad to hear that stripes come off. I'm ordering some from CooperFlags and, if I screw up the install or don't like the result, I'm going to take them off.

A piece of unsolicited advice I picked up from my girlfriends father who does vinyl graphics for police cars etc. You should remove the wax from where the new stripes will go before you place them. There can be problems with them later if you don't.

advice = free

The stripes shown at this site on the VW, the 3rd ones from the top are the stripes I am having installed this weekend. In BLACK. What do you think?

I like them! Can't wait to see pics when you are done.

Great post. I didn't know you could remove/redo stripes. Mine are OK, but I'd rather have a viper or shelby stripe if I could choose.
