Sell at least 8 of your cars, and buy a real Lambo!
In my humble opinion.

If it makes you happy...

Do it! Don't worry 'bout the naysayers. A few will say it's 'rice'. So what? If you like it go for it. I'd love to have the guts to do it to my convert. I think'd be fun.

I did see one kit that allows you to open the door normally OR swing up. So you can just use them normally most of the time and swing em up when ya want.

Also note some kits open only 45 -50 degrees, and others over 90...

I'd spend the money other ways...

but whatever floats your boat! After all, it's your car.

I looked into this. The amount of modification needed to do this right on a MINI is extensive. Also its not reversable (if that matters to you). So if you're up for it then its a sick look

Just curious, when's the appropriate time to "swing em up"? When you've been having a great day and won't mind all the pointing and laughing?

Do what you want, but you're telling me that of ALL the things in the world you could buy for a couple thousand dollars, this is the one that will bring you the most happiness? Really?... That's extremely hard to imagine.

When you feel like it, for fun. Keep in mind that things YOU like or value are likely a point of ridicule for someone else too. Chill man, variety is what makes the world go round. 60's muscle, lowriders, hot rods, rat rods, 'rice', vintage sports, steam, old trucks, whatever. Look around and appreciate the diversity. If no one did something to their car for fear of another disliking it we'd all be driving around in Blue Chevy Caviliers... or whatever...

Did anyone say that? I've spent a few K on after market and doors haven't been it. Wheels, tires, CAI, pulley, Wet Okoles, Sportlink... So no, it's not the one thing that will bring me the most happiness, but I support anyone who wants to do their own thing. Life with a row of stock MINI's is boring. Life with a row of MINI's with only mods YOU, or I approve of would be equally so. I'd rather see a row of modded cars where I dislike 1/3 of them than a row of identical cars. But I promise I don't have a attitude where I'd laugh and point.

I might point out that some folks might ask why you'd spend 20-30 K on that 'little dinky' car, when you coulda gotten a kia or whatever for 1/3 the price. They might even point and laugh at you.

Heck, I 've spent a couple thousand on a BICYCLE. More than once. I know people who are shocked at that idea. They might even point and laugh when I'm not looking. And I know cyclists who love it and want to ride em, or have a similar collection.
==============================

Some George Harrison lyrics to ponder...

Someone's driving a 450
And his friends are so wild
They're still in their stick shifties
But they feel they have much more style
But I've found...

It's all up to what you value
Down to where you are
It all swings on the pain you've gone through
Getting where you are

It's all up to what you value
In your motor car
It all rests on what it's cost you
Getting where you are
It's what you value

Someone's driving a 6-wheeler <--ref to the Tyrell 6 wheeled F1 car
Seems the world is all blurred
Knows he's in a show stealer
With a sound that's uncompared
And I've found

It's all up to what you value
Down to where you are
It all swings on the pain you're gone through
Getting where you are

It's all up to what you value
In your motor car
It all rests on what it cost's you
Getting where you are
It's what you value.

Just do it

That's what owning a MINI is all about, individual expression.
