Home Made Hood Scoop Grill question

Read all the threads (I think I found them all) on making a hood scoop grill out of the mesh metal "gutter guard" material. So I trotted off to to Home Depot and bought some. Got home and started playing with. Problem is...I'll be damned if I can figure out a good way to attach the grill to the scoop. Can some of you experienced "pros" shed a little light on this issue???

Thanks a bunch,

ripley.

No attachment needed. You cut the mesh to fit so that it is actually just small enough to fit and then it gets sandwiched between the outer part of the scoop and the inner part. This is how I did mine over a year ago...no problems.

The inner side of the frame (read - hood) has a slightly

larger area and the black part (at least on my 05 MCS it is black) just holds it in in front.

Good luck

Remove the scoop from inside (under the hood).

Once you have it out.. you should see a little lip on the plastic housing where it comes into contact witht the hood. Cut your mesh to fit inside this lip.. and when you re-attach to the car.. it will stay in place.

Hope this helps.

The black part under the hood is held on with 2 phillips and 2 10mm nuts. When you remove those and the scoop tray there will still be 2 other nuts holding the separate painted part of the scoop onto the hood.
