found something similar on ebay, refuse to pay $50 for such an item...
so, in the spirit of DIY and cheapness, im building one myself!
almost done, just need to finish with paint and polyurethane spray. will finish this post when thats all done and installed.
the extinguishers: one, covered in black vinyl, and will have a mini logo sticker on it, if it ever arrives in the mail...
and the build process...
and, the "nearly" completed result.
final product with be black with velcro straps holding the bottle in place. there is just enough room for the bottle to fully slide the seat all the way back and forward
Thanks! I'm almost done with it. You an get those extinguishers on eBay, 2 for $14 shipped. The rest is just aluminum L brackets and a strait piece, from Lowes or similar. You can prolly get away with all L brackets too.
If you have a rivet gun, it makes it easier, but tiny nuts and bolts work fine as well. Notice you have a hole in the metal stop piece on the seat rails. As long as you make that little bracket the same width, the seat will move freely.

I think it came out great! lemme know your opinions of course!
Finished it off with some satin black paint, covered in polyurethane to hold it onto the aluminum. Found some velcro that doesnt have that fuzzy crap on it, so this stuff is basically all "plastic feeling". very clean. riveted the velcro to the brace, then made some little "pull tabs". installed it and finished it off with a little mini cooper sticker i had. still waiting for another one in the mail, thatll go on the main part of the extinguisher; otherwise, this is the final product!
velcro and tabs (velcro found in the sewing / crafts section of walmart, $5)
painting process. made a stand from spare wood for stuff like this...
velcro riveted to the bracket...
pull tabs... i used fat washers to hold the velcro onto the other side of the rivets.
^That came out great!!! Any chance you'd want to make another one?
thanks!
well, suppose i could. notice you have an 09 mini, so im not sure about the measurements... youll have to send me some pics and measurements; we have to make sure the extinguisher fits under / between the seat. this thing has a couple of millimeters of tolerance on either side, so its a close fit to say the least.
and, you would have to make it worth my while with a donation, and assist with parts cost since i have most of the materials already, that shouldnt be much actually, since you end up getting way more than what is needed with each set of materials, ie: veclro, and some of the aluminum / paint, ect.

Oh but of course! If anything, I'll pm you to go over the details.
I'm sorry you do not see the value in our product. Speedtactics make brackets for the people that can't do it for their self. We make them here in the USA and are a small "Mom and Pop" company. They are manufactured from aircraft grade aluminum, then anodized black and laser etched. We also sell high quality B/C fire extinguishers to go with them. The extinguishers are made with all metal construction and not plastic parts and are good for 7 years. Also they do not make any mess when used, so they are safe for interiors. Below is our REV2 Mini bracket.
These brackets mount to the seat rails and have a variety of mounting holes to allow for forward seat moment.
more information can be found here if you are interested.
Thanks Scott
Time effort of money.. $50 is cheap. When you factor in the time you spent to create one, and how much you could charge for your labor (or your hourly rate). I've found that as I grow, the effort necessary to put something together outweighs the time that I have. So I spend money since it's less valuable than my time.
