Vinyl Stripe Removal

I am getting tired of my vinyl stripes as they are getting a little beat up - actually, I am just getting tired of being so visible so I would like to remove my stripes and blend in a little more. They have been on my MINI for about 2 years now. I tried gently peeling them off with my thumb nail but not much luck. Does anyone have suggestions on how to easily get them off the car without damaging the finish? I am sure this topic has been covered, but my search didn't reveal much in the way of information. Thanks.

Put a hair dryer on one of the corners and slowly peel it up.

...and pull straight back, not perpendicular and keep heating it all the way to the end. If your MINI has been parked outside, don't be surprised if you have ghost stripes.

Thanks, I will give it a try. I am parked outside at work, but garaged otherwise, and my MINI is PW so not much color to fade, so I think I should be okay regarding "ghost stripes".

I just removed my factory viper stripes from my 2010 dark silver msc. I didn't use any heat source and they came off without any problems. I did this on a 50ish degree day. Just a few small spots where I had to remove some adhesive. I just need to give the car a good bath and wax now.

Will be looking to do this to replace mine, which have spider cracked - hopefully will net some good results!

I used a heat gun at the lowest setting to remove mine. Also go to a auto parts store and get 3m adhesive remover. That stuff cuts through the hardest stuff.
