Show me your stripes!

Just ordered my '06 MC yesterday. Seems that you can no longer get the old style stripes on the MC, only the new checkmate stripes. Since there are so many choices for bonnet stripes, I am now planning on what I want. Would like to see unusual stripes that others have added. I want something other than the standard stripe.

I initially thought about getting the magnetic stripes, so that as I change my mind, I can change the stripes. If I choose vinyl, how hard is it to remove?

To remove the vinyl all you need is a blow dryer/heat gun, a little patience and some alcohol to remove any remaining adhesive. It's really easy.

You may want to take a look at some of the pictures on this Flickr Photo Set. There are over 160 MINI pics, not all show graphics, but there is a bit of a variety.

Checkerboards rule! Design your own - mix and match.

I had the factory bonnet stripes, but wanted something more unique. I've got the center checker from Cooper Flags. I had mine installed differently than the red example from their website: mine starts at the back of the hood scoop instead of going all the way down the front of the car, so I could have my stripe but also have a nice, clean nose. I left the installer to do it, and he didn't extend them up onto the panel right below the windshield. I wish he would have, but oh well.

I'll probably do something different next year. Until then I can only tell you that the factory stripes came off really easily.

It took me over 2 years to decide what I wanted to do but finally choose stripes straight down the hood (similar to a Viper) but not thru the scoop. I also put them on the boot but not thru the area where the license plate goes. My installer agreed that this is "a different dimension" and would not look right with the stripes coming thru that area. I have seen that done on other cars and didn't like it. I wish I could post pics but I can't. I will tell you this. To get the visual look of the stripes coming straight down the hood, we had to space them wider at the bottom (where they meet the grill) than at the top. Otherwise, because of the contour of the hood, they looked a little pear shaped. Good luck

Sweet lookin' ride, Vader!

What wheel/tire combo is that? Looks very nicely balanced... Stripes work great too!
