I just thought it would liven up the engine bay a bit, especially with the red "S" logo it has on the silver (instead of plain black) housing.

Has anyone done this, and does anyone happen to have a part number/price for the cover?

Here's a link if you don't know what it looks like...the "Works" sticker can be left off.

I love the look, I just bought a slightly used IC off of eBay and painted it silver with some high-temp paint and it looks pretty good. I will install it this summer when the weather gets better and it will hold up a lil more. Its a great DIY project if you have a lil time and patience.

Unless you got one off a wrecked car I doubt you'll be able to find one. I'm pretty sure each cover is individually numbered, which means buy the whole kit and get the cover or you're s.o.l.

Some MCS owners have replaced their intercoolers with either larger IC or mounted the alta air diverter.
Therefore they may have the OEM IC cover for sale. Pick up a spare and paint it anyway you want.
I thought about chroming it but I could not find a company to chrome the plastic piece for me.
I had it painted to match my body color and added an S from the keychain with the loop cut off.

Have fun!

davecsumini,

When you installed your Alta CAI I see you did not cut off the weather stripping along the cowling over the Alta air obx. Did you leave in the cowling back panel or remove it, it looks like it is removed? Did you not cut off the weather stripping incase of returning the stock air box in the future?

Just curious, you are the first I have seen to leave the stripping alone.

Jason

You're exactly right about not cutting the weather stripping!
