Does anybodie know were i can find a list of programable features on a COOPER S? Like auto lock, daytime running lights and so on. Can daytime running lights be programed if your car has xenon's? Thank you.

Here's a list that I made up when I bought our MCS's. Cut and paste it for your use as needed.

And yes, cars with Xenon's can have DRL's since they utilize the high beams bulbs at 50% power (See below)

I want to add an undocumented item to Charlie's list.

Auto unlocking with ignition off.
I have this activated. My car auto-locks at 10mph, and auto-unlocks when I turn the key to position 0. I basically don't have to touch my locks at all.

To make changes in these settings do I have to go to the dealership as specified in the manual. I assume there will be a labor charge. Doesn't it seem that if we have all these options that the choices should be made at the time of delivery and included as part of dealer prep? I was not informed of any of these options, just told of what the default settings are on a few with no mention of the ability to activate of deactivate any.

Yes, you will have to go to the dealers to have the program settings changed.

Your dealer should have programmed it to your liking as part of delivery prep process. You should talk to your MA about it. After taking delivery, they will probably charge you for any further changes.

For whatever reason, MINI dealers seem to be unaware of the full list of options mentioned above. I've been to 3 MINI dealers and they each had slightly different lists of features they could program. None of them had the complete list. And each of them insisted that their list was THE list.

Great car. Lousy dealers.

I received a list of programmable options about a month before delivery (Dec 03) but it didn't include auto 'unlock at keyoff', so I ASSuMEd that meant if I got autolocking it would auto unlock. Well, the dealer has never heard of auto unlocking. KatanaPilot, how did you find this option or more to the point, how can I get this. If I can't get it, I'm going to have to go to the dealer and disable the autolocking. I hate having to pull twice to get out when I've turned off my car.

Thanks,
matt

on my mini, i don't have to pull the handle twice when the engine is turned off. i do have to do it twice when the engine is running. i think it is for safety in case someone inadvertently pull the door when the car is moving. all bimmers have this feature too!

unfortunately I alway have to pull twice, regardless if the engine is running or not. When I went back to the dealership (MCM) they hadn't heard of autounlocking and said it wasn't possible on mini's. If someone knows how to enable autounlocking or can reference a dealer that knows about this option I would appreciate it. I'll have MCM contact them. Thanks.

The central locking toggle switch can be programmed to open the windows and sunroof when held in the up position. I learned of this feature from the CD-ROM my dealer provided me at pick-up. This is being programmed next week, so I'll let you know if it works or not. This is my second time to the dealer to get this programmed. The first time, they just checked my key fob to see if it was working properly. Obviously a miscommunication about what I wanted done. Round two coming up.

I am also interested in finding out whether or not a 2003 MCS can be programmed to unlock when the car is shut off. I don't like the two pull to open set-up either. It is annoying and takes some getting used to. A new passenger thinks they are stuck in the car.

Let me know any information about this. I am going to the dealer next Monday. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Can you clarify, do the windows go all the way down, or just a crack?

And, I think I read somewhere that if you get the DRL's programmed, you can't "deprogram" at a later date? Can anyone confirm?

Windows will go down as long as the button on the fob is depressed. They stop when released.
when released.
The DRL’s can be deactivated. I had mine turned off.

I have a 2004 Mini loaner from my dealer right now. One of the cool things that I wish I had on my 03 is when you unlock the doors from the key the lights blink 2X. Mine only does it when I lock them and the lights blink once. Is that programable?

A definite need! I suggested the same thing (lights blinking when unlocking the car with the remote key) in MINI Owner's Lounge thread but never got a confirmation.

Had a new feature programmed this week. My doors now unlock when I turn the car off.

The flashing lights to indicate the door(s) is unlocked is not an option according to MINI in Indy. Also not available, again according to my dealer, is the feature to roll down both windows and open the sunroof via the central locking toggle switch (held in the up position). This is apparently only available across the pond.

I also had v36 installed on my car with no noticable change to the yo-yo or cruise control issues (cc fluctuates). I did not have the stumble but was hoping for some benefit. I have driven about 500 miles since the v36 reflash but I have noticed nothing different.

A while back, I was looking into the terribly annoying feature of "autolock" without the completely necessary feature of "autounlock". After a little research and much cooperation with Motor City Mini, I managed to get autolock and autounlock.

In many posts the option for autounlocking is listed. It isn't in the Owner's Manual anywhere and my dealership (MCM) hadn't every heard of it. Fortunately with the help of these threads on NAM and MINI2, I finally found a dealer who had heard of this option (East Bay MINI in San Fransisco). I decided to call the Service Manager and talk to him and he said, "Oh yeah that is definately programmable. It in the normal list on the tester." Well, I promptly called my MINI Salesman (David Green at MCM) who was very interested in finding out this option. He help me organize time with Service and they tried it out and sure enough. It is an option. Ilya, the Service Advisor, worked on it for me and printed out the list of options, which I share here with (D) being the factory defaults for US market:

Function:
Central Locking
Lock after 2 min after unlocking without opening
active(D)
not active
Automatic locking after starting off
active(D)
not active
Automatic unlocking after engine off
active
not active(D)
Selcetive central locking (first driver, then all)
active(D)

Holding RC open button (rolls windows and sunroof open)
comfort opening(D)
no function
Lighting
External lights
Daytime driving Lights

not active(D)
Home lights (follow me home)

150s
240s

Fuel Warning

mpg (us)(D) (how is this different? anyone?)
km/l
Distance
km
mls(D)
Time
12h(D)
24h
Temperature

degrees F(D)

This output was from my 04MCS US market with CAR & Key MEMORY M36.0. Naturally, these options can very from model to model so your MINI may have a different level and completely different options. What I would like to emphasize here, other than I am a obstinate SOB is that many things are possible to change that your dealership may not be informed about. Don't give up. If someone posts that something works on their MINI and your dealership (as was my case) said it can't be done, push. Find another dealer with more information. Apparently, not all MINI dealerships have the same training.

Let's educate our dealerships! Let's push for support from them! Let's help each other enjoy motoring! Let's make BMW's MINI as good as the original!

I think Indy is wrong. The 04 loaner I had flashed the park lights 2X when I hit the unlock button.
Maybe their is a big lake between Indy and Columbus

mpg (UK)
mpg (US) D how is this different?

UK i.e. Imperial Gallons are 4.55 liters in volumne
US Gallons are 3.8 liters in volumne
Hence, the mileage for imperial gallons would be farther than the milage
for an US gallon. Both called a gallon, but not the same size.
Cheers!

Thanks,
I guess I didn't realize that the US gallon was different than the Imperial Gallon. Say, why the UK still using gallons and miles? The US was supposed to be the only place left on the planet using such an archaic system. This threw me when I vacationed in the UK after living in Germany. I saw an exit sign that said 3 4m and I mistook it to mean 34 Metres instead of 3/4 miles.
