Want to install 4 Hella, but need major help

I just meet a guy who did it to his VW R32 and now really want them on my mini. All the brackets I have seen so far put the lights way higher than I want. I want them infront of the lower grill. I have seen a couple people here who have done this but they dont show how they did it and most are for the first gen. If I could get pictures on how to remove what I need to remove and where to attach the mounts and where can I get the mounts or should I make one?

I went to check out the mount at outmotoring.com and there picture of at the top of the page is where I want the lights yet their mount puts the lights where my license plate is.

All useful help is greatly appritiated

I saw an ad in Marketplace for a 4 Hella set up that were mounted low. He said his bracket was from Alta. I think it was in the parts for gen 1 you might look there on page 2 or 3. I think they were sold but you could PM him for info.

Outmotoring sells some adjustable mounts that go on the lower grill.

edit* nevermind, those are just on 1st gen. you might be able to fabricate them to work tho.

I have 4 on the top grill, I first tried some angle brackets(like for adding stability to corner joints on wood frames) but they ended up being wobbly. I used some large washers for support against the grill slats which are plenty strong enough for this purpose. I have since replaced the brackets with some straight metal brackets on the backside with the bolt going through the slat and into the Hella bracket. This way is much more stable. I'll try to find pictures

EDIT: this is how it looks now

Yes, Alta used to sell a 4-light kit for the lower grille for the 1st gen MINIs (R53s and R50s). I visited their web site, and it doesn't seem to be offered any more. I don't know if that bar would work on an R56 or not, with the way it mounts to the bumper.

I have the Alta light bar, but I'm only using the two outer lights, because I have a license plate in the front, where the inner two lights would be. I love the lights, but they're IPFs, not Hellas.

Maybe try eBay?

The lower mount will block your intercooler. Not a recommended situation

you could use the outmotoring mounts and then hang the lights rather than mount them on the top of the mount.... this would put the lights over the bumper ... you might want some fancy hardware to clean up the mounting points since they would be so visible .. grind off and paint or pick up chrome stuff.

But yes, the intercooler moved from GEN1 to GEN2 . . .
