How's the vinyl holding up to flying debris?
I'm planning on doing mine with window tint trying for the black chrome look, not sure the %, but I'm going to ask my guys to do 2 layers so it should be more resistant.

The di noc material is thicker than standard vinyl so I find it holds up better.

Had PD on the head/tail lights of my JCW Coupe for a year. Still looks great. No dings, gets hand washed every week, etc. no problems. I use quick detailed spray on it and it seems to work well.

Has anyone tried putting in http://www.ebay.com/itm/EURO-BLK-HALO-RIM-PROJECTOR-HEADLIGHTS-SIGNAL-PAIR-2007-2012-MINI-COOPER-CLUBMAN-/171022910838?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&fits=Year%3A2011%7CModel%3ACooper%7CMake%3AMini&hash=item27d1c28576&vxp=mtr?

I'm very interested in doing this, but I want to know how difficult it is, and if I need to bring it in to someone, how much it will cost. Thank you!

Thanks for the write up here. I tried the Plasti Dip method, and I wasn't very impressed with how it came out... Although it's better than traditional rattle-can paint, I had a LOT of pits and bumps when applying this stuff. Of course it didn't help that I didn't have much room to do this, and it was breezy.... I may try peeling this stuff off and vinyl wrapping it?

* Question though, how do you remove the headlight washer cap?? I had no idea my car even had this. How does it even work?! haha.

(I'll post pics after the paint dries and I install this).

Pop open the hood, and just pull the headlight washer section. It's spring loaded, so make sure you have a good grip. There is two pop tabs, one on top and one below. First time might be nerve wracking but just be patient, I've taken them off 6 times already. A flat head screwdriver will help pop each tab off.

Ive never had an issue with te PD it looks like eiter too heavy of coats or not clean enough but hey guess what you can peel n try again. I tried my door handles but with my line of work n being in and out of car when on site installing it started to peel so I gave up

Well, here's some pics of the change today... Not too crazy about it. Looks good from a distance, but the paint is chunky and gross. Don't really care for some parts, but I like darkening it up with black accents. I'll poke around with some vinyl options.

Have you looked at these? They are OEM and solid black plastic. I have them on my '07 HB MCS. They also come for the headlights.

Sweet! No I haven't. I actually started a thread asking for resources of blacked-out trimming, but there wasn't many responses. Do you know if they make the side emblems in black also for the Type-S? Thanks for the link!

You're welcome, look at the 1st two photos in my gallery to see them installed.
Not sure if they make the side lights in black with the S, but I got these:
http://www.outmotoring.com/mini-coop...r_housing.html
Which as I understand are what comes on the newer JCWs.
I have these as well:

But these look good too:

Good luck.....

Nice!
Now we need to see some photos!
We have a member in our MINI Group that has adopted PD as his long lost brother.
He's been going crazy on his new Countryman! Has done all the chrome in black, some part under the hood and inside in Red, and deleted his rear seat!

I am the same way! I PD my intercool air diverter, some wiring, and a few other under the hood goodies. Its cheap, easy, and very forgiving.

There had to be an outside factor. Either in your method of prepping the surface, applying the paint or something else. I haven't had a single issue with getting plastidip to lay smooth and even. Just like paint, multiple lighter coats is the key. The lighter the coats you can do, the smoother it will be when cured.

And then you could ad the black line turn signals.
