Hi I just got my Mini in British Racing Green with Black roof. I want to blackout it and I have some quastions for you. Because the roof is glossy black I want the blackout to be glossy too. At the beging I was thinking about 3M 1080 vinyl but I saw that there is plasti dip gossifier. Have anybody used it? Maybe someone have any photos?
I have also quastion about using plasti dip. Outside ther is little bit cold about 40F/5C can this be a problem? How many spray cans did you use for hl,tl and grill?

I have painted several cars, motorcycles, car parts, motorcycle parts with PD... This is by far the easiest and most forgiving way to DIY paint jobs. For the HL, TL, Grill you will need to by 2 cans. 1 will do the job but its better to have the extra just incase you have a flaw and need to respray.
With that being said, dont like the way it looks or the color? Peel it right off with no damage to anything. It is extremly durable (painted my entire R53 and NO dings or tears in PD) and will help protect factory paint under the PD... Vinyl is expensive, hard to apply for a DIY project and does not have as much road debris protection as PD... I am telling you man, this stuff is so much fun and looks great!

Plastidipped rings and grille. Sprayed right over the chrome. Clean everything with alcohol first and spray light coats at first so it goes on easy. Super easy and forgiving. Go for it.

There is no longer any chrome on my R53. I did the HL,TL rings, door handles, gas cap, belt line (chrome window trim), grill, side marker scuttles, and inside of headlights. The only thing I have left is my wheels and work has been crazy busy so I have not gotten to them yet. But hope to this weekend if I am not out in my deer stand.

Just remember that if you mask anything off, make sure you pull the tape while the PD is still wet. The great thing is you can spray 5-6 coats but the last coat you spray is when you pull your tape as the PD will re-liquefy the already dry PD giving you a smooth tape line.
