Since this is a blackout thread I figure I'll throw this out there and perhaps someone will know. Has anyone tried to blackout the reflectors on the wheel arches? Or know where I can buy them pre-tinted as i don't want to use outmotoring's tint kit. I would prefer to just swap them out if that's the case. I was thinking of spray tint?

Sure thing. http://www.lylesvinylstyles.net/

He's a vendor here so you can also find him on that link off the main page. He did some work for me on Saturday and I think it looks great. You can see it here:

Just want to throw this out there... don't push down on the front grill to remove it. There's tabs that you can see and reach by going in from the side of the honeycomb. squeeze the tabs and pull out.

Tails tooooo
ok, well im letting the headlight rings dry and decided to throw on 3 coats of the plasti-dip to my tail light rings. one thing i noticed, the tails look much glossier than the headlight rings...hmm,well anyways, i have a gloss black vinyl setup in the front from lyle, so the tails look like they will match perfectly. Thanks to chinq for the how to on the removal of everything, verrrry helpful.

Heres some tail pics.

All Done!
Ok, so I finished my Taillight rings last night. 4 coats of plasti-dip with 30 min dry time in between and then I let them sit under my industrial fan for 3 hours to ensure dryness. Yes, I am OCD. Anyways, it came out great, identical to the vinyl I have in the front . Sorry, my MINI is a bit messy, but here are some pictures.

Yeah I wanted to take mine apart and actually paint the metal, but most of it wont come off, at least, without breaking it. The part that runs along the hood and quarter panels just pulls right off...then you just pop the metal out the rubber. The rest of the car is what makes it undoable (to a large degree). I spoke with eddie and he told me the pieces around the side and rear side windows and boot is glued together, plus clips that hold the whole assembly to the car that most definitely break. He even spoke with a dealer and they said they always end up breaking them if they are trying to remove it.

So the blackout tape is our only option unfortunately

Well you can find it at outmotoring.com and it is kind of an electrical tape type texture (except it seems like they have come out with a new one that looks rubbery to match that surrounding rubber...I have the older one). It is just the right width so it goes on pretty easy. Only like $12
