Will a 3 peice dash kit fit an 03 that originally had a 5 peice dash?

It will fit, but the right side is not tethered like the original. Thus if the airbag were to go off when you had a passenger, they would likely end up with a large piece of plastic embedded in their face.
I went that route at first, but couldn't justify the risk to the passeger for the upgrade in looks. YMMV.
You could try to find a way to anchor it, but given the OEM setup, I wouldn't trust a jury-rig to hold it in case of airbag deployment.

 

No, it's best to use the correct dash for the correct model year.

The airbag concern for the passenger is the largest problem.

How is the 3 piece dash air bag cover anchored?

 

The way that I understand it, the 3pc dash's airbag comes out of the top of the dash instead of the front of the dash. I don't believe that the front of the 3Pc dash is intended to move at all.

 

That makes sense, thanks for the reply. I was checking out the JCW 3 piece leather dash, man, it looks good.
I wonder if it could be anchored or hinged to use on the early cars.
