My son was given a Blinder M20 X-treme lase jammer for his birthday and here is a pic of our install.



A lttle bit about the install. The kit comes w/ 2 sensors, brain, on/off switch and warning light/buzzer. All wiring uses phone jack plugs to the brain, plenty of cable and everything has a high end feel/finish.

Sensor install

The sensors have to be unobstructed and facing forward. The sensors are mounted to the bottom of the front bumper using 3M tape for the brackets that came with it could not be used to achieve the correct facing forward angle. The grill was easy to cut. The hard part was mounting the sensors to match up w/ the grill holes and reinstall the bumper. Several attempts later - a little trimming, moving the senors a little to the left , now back a little to the right and in they went.

On/Off Switch

This needs to be in a convinient location for you are to turn the Jammer off once speed has been adjusted. apparently you want "the man" to get a read on you. It jus so happens that the switch fits perfectly into the cigarette ligher and the fact that there was power and ground right there just made this the easy choice and install.

Warning light and Buzzer.

Since we had added a Gtech a while back, we decided to mount the warning light near it since we had already "plumbed" that area to accept wiring. The gtech is mounted over the driver side corner defroster vent so it was very easy to pull the light/buzzer wire along the power cable for the Gtech. The buzzer is actually in the vent ducting right underneath the Gtech.

TESTING

My "good friend" MISFITOY suggested that I go out and purposely collect data for the NAM community but that ain't gonna happen . I will report back on any experiences, I'm just not going to go out and SEEK those experiences.

Chris, no clue it was a B-day gift for my son.

This one is forward firing only, they make a front/rear system as well. You can add the rear sensors to this one - they use the same brain in both models.

I don't know how well these suckers work either. On the MINI the sensors aren't very stealthy (in my opinion) but I can see that on a lot of other cars they would not be very visible.

It was another mod to do w/ my son - hanging in the garage for a couple of hours.

Let us know your impressions as your drive time increases. This is an eventual "to do" item, but it'd be great to have some feedback. Nice job on the install. Oh, I agree with Msfitoy-- go "collect" data & give us the +/- tolerances.

my buddy has a few lidar guns. you might want to buy one if you really want to test. they're perfectly legal to own and use, just don't dress up as a cop and start pulling people over

They are pricey, I didn't realize how much these suckers cost. I will report back the day I have some feedback. We will run this inconjunction w/ a Valentine 1 which should be interesting. Glad you liked the install - all things considered we are happy w/ the way it turned out. Very few choices when it comes to sensor mounting, we both would have perferred a stealthier set-up.
One notion, we played with was to make a bracket and mount the sensors w/ the PIAA lights (just under the lights). Sort of make them less obvious by making more obvious concept.

I'm sure someone like Sid would come up with a better way but considering the technical requirements provided by Blinder, our skills and tools this was the way for us to go.

Ha ha...too bad my upcoming Bday will be just another empty box day... boo hooo...

FWIW...I did get a new pair of glasses for driving so maybe I can see farther down the road for the little black "gun" pointed at me...

Now that you are actually driving your car again and all the mods you recently did, you need one .

Considering that "the man" typically would aim at yr liscense plate to get a good read, your install should work very effectively. Slightly more steathly looking - being a single sensor and having a front tag helps.

I really wanted to mount mine behind the plastic grill but all of these devices emphasize unobstructed "views". Being plastic, I really wondered how much it would affect performance.

now that I think about this and see PGT's - someone who manufactueres these should design a tag holder with the sensors built in - front and rear !

Laser is visible light...black plastic grill would effectively block it...

that's on the way.....new design will be a plate frame with the laser diodes built in. The company that makes the LPP is doing just this.

PGT, any idea when the plate frame version will be available? Also, you mentioned getting the Cheetah wireless install in an earlier post. Recommend it? I see that there is a wireless keyfob remote (StealthNode) to turn it off for sale at speedcheetah.com. Tried it?

My wife agreed to let me get the LPP if I get a speeding ticket or if I crash my front end parking.

the Cheetah is nice, but you lose some of the functionality by using it. I'll see if there's more info on the other stuff...haven't heard lately

C'mon it's only like 3.5 grand to get a LIDAR gun for your testing

Here is one better(maybe)...make a cut-out in the "filled in" section of the grill. Just cut out the shape of the sensor in the solid section(no holes) and place it there. That should be about as stealthy as it gets with or with out a front plate.

You could even space them out on the left and right sides. So it looks even more "stock".

yes....that's a good solution and we looked at that actually. I decided on the plate holder for now until we decide whether one or two heads is needed for the MINI (the plate holder is non-intrusive and can be undone with no $$ involved).
