Interior/Exterior Install - M20 X-treme Laser Jammer
roughly 2"x2"x1". I'd have to see the R56 grille up close. one thing to note...chrome = bad when it comes to defeating laser. Might as well tape mirrors all over the front of your car with the operator to target
I was thinking of getting a R56 MCS grill or blacking out the chrome, but I am growing to like the old-fashioned look of the chrome slats. I'm optimistic that I will get some protection.
Bahamabart- post up as much detail as you can on the sensor head installation please! I have a Blinder on order now, and would really appriciate as much of your insight and documentation as possible please! Thanks so much!
1) After removing the front fascia - My son and I DID NOT find a fit for the binder brackets supplied in the kit SO we used 3M tape to attach the binder sensors to the underside of the bumper.
2) We cleaned the under bumper section well, as well as the binder sensor before applying the 3M tape.
3) The sensors need to be
a) facing directly forward and the bumper is curved.
b) level (binder provides neat leveling indicator tool)
Once we marked the location of each , we use a yard stick (i.e. running across the face of each sensor to get that directly facing forward). We did not worry about the level at this time.
Happy that they were mounted in the right place and facing forward, we proceed to worry about the holes in the grill. We removed the grill and remounted the bumper fascia and marked with tape the vertical left and right and the horizontal top and bottom. removed fascia, installed grill and extrapolated the lines onto the grill. Having done that we cut the grill.
The front fascia went on and off SEVERAL TIMES!!! as we had to remove a little more here and there. More is less here.
Once we got the sensors THRU the grill - You really have to fully bolt up the fascia and then use the leveling tools.Chances are you will have to remove the fascia and remove a little top or bottom of the grill.
You may find a better way but this is what we came up with. I couldn't have done it w/ out my assistant (son). We spent an entire afternoon - bumper on , bumper off, and so on and so on.
bear in mind we are not the sharpest tools in the shed.
So far holding up good -

Check out radardetector.net. There are lots of youtube videos demonstrating effectiveness.
I really want a laser jammer even though I have never received a laser ticket. It's another very cool technogadget I must have. :impatient

Bart - THANKS - I just installed my M27 and used pretty much the same approach for the heads. I DID use the blinder brackets on the bottom of the bumper, but don't screw them to the heads - instead just squeeze the heads between the brackets and use 3M tape and gorilla tape to hold them. Also mounted mine a little farther apart (as far apart as possible with the tow hook mount as the limiting factor). Cut down one bracket to get closer to the tow hook mount.

And you should use a camera that can see IR (most cell cameras will pick it up) and test the heads with a remote control or one of the gun mimicking testers at least once per months to make sure that the sensors are still receiving and the heads are still firing. Blinders are esp well known for needing heads replaced frequently.
