Anyone have this Mini-made alternate armrest?

Like nearly everyone else, I hate the factory armrest. Despite reading nearly every thread on armrests I could find on NAM, I haven't been able to get mine to stop opening when I lean on it. It's flimsy and ugly and I want to get rid of it.

I have not found mention of this alternate armrest made by Mini:
Anyone have this one installed in an R56?

I like that it won't interfere with the one bigger cup holder and that it opens via latch instead of sliding.

Any familiarity with this product?

fits

I have that one in my R56, and I like it a lot. Took me 15 minutes to install. Some others have had it installed at the dealership as well, and not liked it. They claim it makes shifting difficult and the e-brake hard to use, but I don't find it affects my shifting at all and I got used to just pulling up on the e-brake with my finger tips the first day. To each their own I guess.

Does it stick out any further than the factory one? If not, I don't think it would bother me either.

I installed the same in mine. At first I thought it was going to interfere with the shifter, but after driving a couple days, it turned out to be fine. The armrest pulls up easily to get at the emergency brake if you want to pull the brake up tight. HTH

It's great to have that additional storage.

I have it... and other than the ebrake (which is only 2 clicks)... it seems fine

Mini armrest

I just put one in my new MINI. It works great. It does get in the way of the parking brake, somewhat and I imagine that if you were a serious racer, it would hinder real quick shifting. But for normal driving I really like it.

Great pics of armrest installed (link to previous thread).

The thread is here:

Credit to MINI_Bee who posted these pics and to oldopelguy... I know they helped me decide to order one. If it has arrived yet, hoping to pick it up tomorrow from the dealer and install it right away.
