D3mON: we are all just havin' some fun. don't take it personally. looks like you have a nice car and love it. that's what it's all about. i just have some ingrained idea in my mind that there is a difference between a "mod" and an "accessory".

and thats fine and dandy I was actually just posting what some of the others posted but I got berated for it... a simple hey we dont consider that a modification would have been enough but instead I get 1/2 a dozen folks belittling me!
I thought the MINI groups were here as a common interest friendly group...

D3mON,

I didn't read anything that suggested that a half dozen people "belittled you" - in fact, I don't even interpret ONE post as doing that. Gnatster (with best intentions) suggested that a few of your accessories (which I share and proudly claim on my own list) don't count as "mods" - and we had a bit of side discussion on that topic. I for one am sorry if you took any of it as a personal assault - I can say from MUCH experience here that no one in this thread meant it that way.

But this whole "Mad Modder's" thing is just a silly little bragging rights thread anyway - where we can compete for seeing who has done the "stupidest" amount of stuff to their MINI, while making the hugest crater in their wallet. Nobody should feel bad for NOT being quite that "invested" in this craziness, IMHO. It's all good, and we're ALL brethren in NAMily.

And I shouldn't offend anyone by saying that - because I'm a major donor to the MINI economy... and just a Gnatster and MSFITOY wannabe.

To me there is a big difference in an accessory and a mod. I would never pass off a stubby attenna as a mod. I am far from joining this club, but I would not want the Mad Modder club turn in to the AutoZone/PepBoys/Lund Accessories club.

As the author of the thread, my intention was purely to have fun, I assure you all.

I mean, geez, look at my opening post... I listed some 30-second accessory installs as mods. So obviously, I wasn't intending for only performance mods to be included !!

I mean, geez, if you want to include June Bug Splatter On Windshield as a mod, have at it. When others poke fun at you, poke right back and tell them your splatter is bigger than their splatter !

Have fun with this thread, folks !!! And wear your MAD MODDER badge proudly, regardless of just how much time you spend on your mods or "mods".

Pass off first off I was NOT passing anything off I was going on the lists provided by the "members"

I am letting this drop from here but I just want to say it has changed how I feel about the community as a whole with the exception of a few.

Sorry if I got a little over zealous to join but hey I "was" proud of the things I did and still want to do.

Best of luck with all your future "mods"

Welcome to the club, bean !

Smart move not to look at that stack of receipts. The shock of just how much you've spent might do some permanent harm to your cardiovascular system.

Absolutely. But honesty and openness will only get you so far in MY marriage. After you pass that magic threshold, it gets you - er, I mean ME - an azzwhoopin'. And not the good kind.

joining the 10k club makes no sense, but i've enjoyed every minute. i'm sure that all "mad modders" feel the same. even though i've spent a bit on my MINI, imagine how the guy in the 997 that i just passed feels!

Im my opinion, what she doesnt know wont hurt her

But seriously, she's cool with my "Modness madness most of the time. She has her hobby and im ok with that. So Hence, i think i qualify to join this club.

Hey Bean, im running 18x8 HRE's as well. Just wondering what size tires are you running on them? Id like to put 225's in the rear over the winter and give the rear a fatter look. I know it will fit a 18x8 wheel, just wondering if it will rub the body without modifying the arches! (im lowered an inch, and switchin over to coilovers soon)

I think it would help if we had two catagories of Modders:

1-Performance Mods (motor/suspension/aero)
2-Cosmetic Mods (decals/paint/trim)
