That looks to be the right hose (remember I did this 5 years ago, roughly). If you follow the line, it should go under the horn and in. You'll want to tap into that line with a T connector.

Will do that after work today; I wasn't sure how many of those grommets exist in that area. The larger diameter hose goes back towards the firewall, and the smaller diameter goes under the intercooler if I remember from when I looked at it before work.

Thanks for the help!

Finally got my gauge; looks like it'll line up perfectly. I was wondering what size screw you guys used? I have the chrono pack and there's a screw on the back of my tach that lines up perfectly, but it's recessed so the current screw holding it together probably won't fit. Did you all just take that screw to [insert hardware store] and match it with a super long one?

Edit: real OEM doesn't seem to show that screw anywhere since it's a part of the instrument cluster itself: http://www.realoem.com/bmw/partgrp.d...21&hg=62&fg=05

Hey guys, managed to get my gauge installed today! The wiring was a bit of a pain but I finally got it nice and neat.

I haven't tested it at highway speeds yet, but it seems like (from my initial spin around the block) that I'm stuck between VAC 10-20. Only when I jump on the pedal a bit does the gauge actually move at all, and it only moves briefly.

For example, when I punch it, the gauge goes up close to 0, but never gets there, and comes right back down to VAC 20 even if I hold my foot down.

I have a feeling it'll at least get above 0 if I punch it at highway speeds, but so far I'm confused. Did I get the right grommet (pictures of where I tapped the hosing are a few posts back, on the last page).

Thanks for all the help! Fun project!

EDIT: Figured it out; didn't get the right hose/grommet last time. There's one grommet (pictured a few posts back) that is a vacuum only line. The Alta grommet is attached directly to the manifold; not a double sided hose.

Ignore this! Wrong product number for mounting cup

IGNORE THIS! sorry...

Please correct the post!! I purchased the mounting cup ATM 3204 per the directions. This is too small for the 2 5/8" boost gauge (ATM 4401). It is for the smaller, 2 1/16" gauge.

Unfortunately, I now have to pay to ship this part back and try to find the correct mounting cup . If anyone knows the correct part number, please post!!

WOW uh, I'm glad that my first post ever was so moronic. It turns out that if you take off whatever the black plastic thing is that's on the gauge it fits nicely in the 3204 mounting cup . So, good job having those part number correct. Bad job me. For what it's worth, Amazon does have this part listed as for 2 1/16", if that's any excuse.

05minisbeater, you should be alright, just take off the weird black circle that comes on the gauge, it'll fit fine. Sorry for the scare, just being a n00b.
