Well, I finally got around to watching the Italian Job. I'd been avoiding it, since I'm not a big fan of Mark Wahlberg, or heist films in general, but people kept telling me I had to see it. I'm happy to say I enjoyed it. Marky was his usual wooden-faced self so I hardly even noticed him. And Ed Norton could read the white pages and sound cool.

AND THE MINIS ROCKED!!!! WOOHOO!!!

I think at the Spring Fling, the instructors should teach us how to drive through little round tunnels and houses with big hallways. Just exactly what does driving down concrete stairs do to a MINI's chassis, anyway?

MINIangelD

P.S. Amazingly, when I pulled into the very full parking lot at the MINIlani 14, there was a spot right in front! Some big hog of an SUV had gotten really close to the shared white line the next space over, but there was plenty of room for Lucy, so she was on prominent display. Thank heavens I had just washed her this morning!

Wow, it's still in theaters???? I haven't seen it yet, maybe this is my chance to see it on the big screen. I'd better check the newspaper.

Dont like Mark Wahlberg???? He's soooooo hot!

To each her own, I guess.

Here in the UK it premiers on thurday. I have managed to get tickets from my dealer, who has organised a 50 Mini convoy from the dealership all round town to the cinema.

I really enjoyed the IJ back in May. It got re-released.

Why don't we all get together and have our own viewing. Pick a time and day and lets all go down to the MINIlani 14 to watch it again. In a short time it will be out on DVD and we'll see it again for our MINI movie. It's a fun show.

When you parked in the lot-did you have your IJ yellow ball or sticker on? Don't have those? Pick them up at the dealer or see me. I have extra movie posters too-the small ones. The dealer has the larger ones. I got an IJ T-shirt in blue as well. Time to get hooked up with a red and white MINI with aero fronts and go cruising around in precision formation again. Maybe we can do this for the Oktober fest rally.

I'm game for a group viewing of IJ, doing a MINI convoy and all that. So, do we all make "vroom vroom" noises whenever a MINI (or Mini) is zooming around the screen? Wave around a MINI cooper flag? Wear funny clothes?

Keikilee - I thought Mark Wahlberg looked pretty interesting, until I found out he was also Marky Mark ... ugh.

I do not have an IJ antenna ball. I actually bought a small styrofoam ball recently, want to try to make my own, with glitter and stuff. May or may not work ... I'll let you know.

I'm shopping for the original IJ and new IJ bundled to come out as a set and get both on DVD.
Next week I will be prowling around. I got the IJ movie sound track and the first song is great.
My percussion savy 16 year old daughter has kidnapped my CD and won't give it back. The song rocks with a subwoofer in the car and the volume up way loud. It's like all percussion. Would be good on the HK audio system.
Try it! I had to really hunt around to get the IJ soundtrack. More prowling.

I got both of them on Tuesday! What's the diff between wide screen and full screen? Does one look better than the other? I got the full screen version and I think it was dubbed! When Marky Mark speaks to his large Polynesian friend about the gold, his friend is pissed that the Russians paid him a visit. He says he doesn't mess with mother nature, mother in-laws and mother freaking Ukrainians? I know the movie didn't have mother freaking in it. Anyone else get a dubbed version?

It's been said that the full screen versions may have the vertical ends of various scenes clipped off. Wide screen captures everything though can possibly cause some eye distortion (not permanent) from extended use. I do recall "mother freakin'" being said in the theatre version...

From what I know, Widescreen (which is way cooler) is the same aspect that they shot it for the theater release. Full screen is "Pan and Scan" where they made compromises so that the video will fit in the screen.

I used to hate widescreen...but if you see a movie in both...well, that changed my mind. It's like the movie is "zoomed' in on the pan & scan.

I have lots and lots of DVDs.
I always buy Widescreen version. Much much better. 30% more screen and you just miss it all if it is cut to fullscreen. Try watching a movie looking through the inside of a toilet paper roll with one eye closed- that is the look of fullscreen.

If I am lucky sometimes the DVD comes with both versions on the same disk then you can tell the difference.
If the disk is dedicated to one or the other version I choose widescreen.
