Has anyone in Hawaii been able to locate a local store that sells the Zaino products?
A lot of people rave about it and I, for one, am willing to give it a try (but you know the "deal" on shipping costs)
Anyone else interested in using this stuff? (see where I'm heading)

I am interested. I read some good reviews on it, but haven't ordered anything yet. I bookmarked their website for future ordering purposes.

Why don't you try asking mini-t?
She knows everything.
If we have to go with a mailorder place we could do a group buy to save a little.

I'll keep my eye out, too....but if we do a group buy, count me in. Zaino should do wonders on my cosmos black paint!

zaino is the bomb!!! baronious and i use it on all our cars. if you want some, i can send you the name and phone no. of the local distributor here (same guy we buy it from). i can also call him and see if he'll give us a discount if we buy in bulk...it's pretty pricey stuff.

t,

Why don't you try and see if you can get a gb price on it and then post. Or you can always post the price they will give us individually. Does your distributor carry the whole Zaino system?

it is not OUR distributor, but he is the distributor for hawaii listed on the zaino site. so you can contact him to see what he has. from my experience, z-2 OR z-5 with the ZFX is all you need if you don't have any fallout. if you do have fallout, then get the clay bar from him or mothers equivalent. a very light pass will make your car feel unbelievably smooth. fallout can be described as the sandpapery feel of the paint even though your car's paint condition is good. after you remove your polish and go over your car with your hand you will feel it. it will be on the roof, hood, trunk and any other surfaces where it can land and sit. i am sure someone will give a detailed explanation of what it is, but this is not what this thread is about. i have recommended zaino to many g35 owners and s2000 owners and they love it. they felt my old s2000 and knew they had to get it. mini-t and myself will be needing more very soon so if anyone wants us to get some for them(to save a trip and the hassle of finding joie the distributor), email her as soon as you can at minigroupbuys@hotmail.com with your info and what is needed and we can do a drop/meet at MINI. i'd recommend the applicator pad he sells as it is very good quality vs the other junk out there. you should get your own 100%cotton bath towels though and remove the labels completely.

if your car has over 1000 miles, you will benefit from a clay bar. yes, it is not the best for paint if you do it often, but you will maybe need to do it lightly once every 3 months depending on your personal parking conditions. my STi that was fresh off the boat needed to get clayed and it is awesome now with just one coat of z-5 and a very very very light claying.

btw, there is a new z5? formula that should be out by now

Folks,

For those of us who are not knowledgeable about Zaino products (yet) here is the link to the Zaino FAQ, if you want to figure out what to buy. The short version is:

ZFX Polish Lok (or Z1, but they say ZFX is superior)
Z2 Show Car Polish
Z6 Gloss Enhancer Spray
Z7 Show Car Wash
Z18 Clay Bar
#314's applicator pads
Z5 Show Car Polish (fills in minor imperfections in the paint, if it has any)

The FAQs also provide a short description of how to use all the products.

I don't have a covered stall at home and live between Beretania and the Freeway. The only time my car is in a covered stall is while I'm at work. Should I even bother with Zaino or the equivalent? Would it be a waste of my time...or does my location make using a claybar and polish even more of a MUST? I don't want to make this kind of investment if its not worth it.

What do you all think?

Keikilee,
First and foremost the enemy of your car is dirt, grime, bird junk and the elements left on your car to eat away at the finish. Frequent- maybe weekly gentle car washes will work wonders. Standard waxing on a regular basis will work.
Your results might be a bit better, nicer, more durable? with Zaino but it looks more costly and time consuming. I think an outdoor breathable car cover with a lock might be good in your case.

mini-t,
I'm sending you PM about ordering for me.

Would be nice if you post what you think might be a good basic kit for those who don't have any Zaino yet.
Like a starter kit. I read through the website- lots of choices.

About six months ago I tried to purchase Zaino products from the website. Sal Zaino responded directly and gave me the his distributer here in hawaii (I believe it is the only way they will sell their products out here). So I contacted the local distributer Mr. Yuen. He works out of his home so you need to call him first. He was very helpful, He not only sold me the products but demonstrated them as well. I dont know if he will offer a group discount but I do know he has been dealing with the local corvette club as well as a few other local clubs, So we can give it a try.

"z-2 OR z-5 with the ZFX is all you need if you don't have any fallout. if you do have fallout, then get the clay bar from him or mothers equivalent. "

STARTER KIT

from distributor
- z-2 or z-5
- ZFX
- possibly clay bar

on your own/optional
- distributors applicator pad(others are cheap and loops get messed up too easily)
- your own 100% cotton bath towel with labels(maybe seams too) removed.

keikilee- yes, a light claying will give you a car that is better than when you first bought it. like i mentioned, wipe your car clean, polish it and then run your hand along the bonnet or roof. feel the little bumps and sand like deposits, it is from the pollution and possible overspray more associated with industrial areas.

minihune- zaino is definitely NOT time consuming. the coats are the lightest when applied and come off just as easy. there is no white/blue/pink junk that gets stuck in between cracks. a dimesized drop covers at least half your roof including sunroof. when applied, the coat is so light that you might not even see what you did(make a system). the only ONE time thing you need to do is the initial wash with a dishwashing liquid solution as described on their site and others. hint: just enough to make light suds, when you are done, you want it literally squeaky clean before you zaino.

let us know as soon as possible. we will more than likely go to the distrbutor in the next few days. that is if you want us to pick up some for you. b

zaino is pricey but it's well worth it! it's the easiest/fastest wax i've ever used.

if you want us to piggy-back your order with ours, send email soon to: minigroupbuys@hotmail.com -- no promises on discounts as his zaino will sell no matter what the price....but i'll try.

mini-t,
Do you know if the clay bar is the size of Mother's or the larger size by Clay Magic?

i'm actually not sure. the picture looks like it has 2 pieces. i've had the Mother's bar for over 1 year now and i still have lots left so havent looked into getting the Zaino one. any of the 3 should work.
