I heard from you that it might be a two day event.???
Either way I would be interested. Just need to know some details like-
How much does it cost? One day or two.
What if any differences will there be for this one vs the Spring Fling.
Just email me the info.

Looking forward to the next one. I think I survived in one piece but I am quite tired being out in the hot sun
for a whole day
Here's what my face looked like at 5pm-

I would love to make it a 2 day event, but track times on Sunday are scarce! Soooo, this year it will be a 1 day event.

Same place, same time, same schedule, same price! It's pretty much the same, just a different sponsor. Who knows, we may even have a new model BMW at the event!

For 2004, we're looking at reserving dates and have a 1 day Spring Fling and a 2 day Aloha 500.

Oops I checked my dates again and find that I will be in scotland that day in July hopefully driving a rented Mini or anything else I can get my hands on that would be fun. Maybe one of those Smart City cars- it's about half the size of a Mini- which half? The back half of course- silly.
I will send in my Kagemusha- Miniac. Go for it Miniac  (Thats the face of a Kagemusha) The Shadow Warrior.

To all those who are thinking of the Aloha 500

If it is like the Spring Fling, I highly recommend that you sign up early because:
Probably students will be limited by how many instructors are there-I would guess about 30 students.
Spring Fling did max out with the full number of students and had a wait list.
The instructors are excellent teachers and drivers. Each instructor had a slightly different approach or style.
The driving school is well organized, run in a very safe and well supported manner.
You can't get enough track time once you see how fun and challenging it is.
Then instead of 7 minis out of 30 we can have 15 out of 30.

And remember practice makes perfect.
Finally- unless you drive in one of these classes yourself, you have NO IDEA what your cooper (any cooper) is capable of in the least way. I tell you when the instructors drove my car it was like night and day compared to poor beginner me. The cooper, even in stock form with the most basic set up is a great car on the track and more fun than a barrel of mini-monkeys
Here's a picture of me thinking about all of you driving in July while I am out of town

Hey folks,

I am 99.99999% sure I'll be doing the Aloha 500. The Spring fling was an absolute BLAST! The car control clinic was well worth the time - I really learned more about what the car does... how to keep things smooth, etc, etc. Had a great time goofing around with the other drivers in my class.

I like how "magically" we had a bunch of Minis in the same run group. Might have to have our own special group next...and after that... we take over the world!!!! (insert evil laugh here)

I betcha Bryan (Beastmaster) can answer that one. ...then again, I think he's still recovering lost sleep from the last event!

From what I remember, he'll be at the Island Mini Mart opening today - I'll corner him and you can attack him with the question

When we have the applications ready, I'll do a posting here with my e-mail address. I'll send out applications via e-mail. Student packet will be sent via e-mail also. Please read them thoroughly BFORE you come to the event. We will have a limited Novice class so that we can concentrate on track time!

Okay so who's up for this event? I started to receive some applications. Just remember you must PAY by July 21 to get the $199 rate. After 7/21 is $219. If you pay on the day of the event, it will cost you $249. You should also be at least a BMW Car Club of Hawaii member to participate in the event. If you opt for the BMW CCA membership, other perks are discounts at BMW of Honolulu and MINI of Hawaii.

It's been a busy day as a few of us worked onthe brakes of a M Coupe, M Roadster, Z3 and my 750il. Unfortunately, I had to tow my car out of there as I broke the brake bleeder nipple and it was not adviseable to drive the car in this condition. But...we got the other cars doen prior to that and all are ready for the Aloha 500!

Bryan,

Are you allowing spectators? I'll be there by then but my car won't, but I'd like to check it out.

Sure spectators are always allowed and welcome. Know that the event starts early and for safety reasons you need to be careful to enter the track area only during certain times such as before the start of the day, during lunch break and at the end of the day. Otherwise the track will be in use and no one will be permitted to cross into the infield area. You can watch from the outside of the track and come and go as you like. No charge.

I'm reworking the schedule, but expect times every couple hours when there will be ingress and egress from the trackside. After the schedule is shored up, I'll post it in the Aloha 500 section.

Entrance will be from the Hawaii International Racing School on Malakole.
