I'd be interested in a group buy for armrests. European style?

Thanks to NAM for allowing us use this forum.

I've got an excellent contact for helmets. If any members are interested in attending driving school events or auto-x...they'll need a helmet. We could do a group-buy for that.

keep the ideas coming! First club group buy will be in January...or possibly sooner if the demand is there!

Helmets make an excellent group buy. Open face doesn't block vision, feels more open, is light weight and allows for a visor.
Closed face protects the jaw/face and offers a clear shield but is slightly bulkier and heavier.

Most times we are looking for Snell M2000 rated helmets that are suitable for use at driving school/driving events, autocross, or lapping sessions on the track.

Some examples from solotime.com
HJC open-faced CL-5 helmet features a snap-on visor and ventilation ports.

From $85 to $90+ plus shipping

HJC CL-12 full-faced helmet has a clear flip up face shield.

From $130 to $140+ plus shipping

I paid about $20-30 more at a retail outlet locally. Hopefully we can get a good price.

UNDERSTANDING HELMET RATINGS (from solotime.com)

There are three primary helmet ratings: Snell, ANSI and DOT.* The standards are set to provide acceptable levels of head protection in the event of an accident.*

Snell rated helmets can be divided into Special Application (SA) and Motorcycle (M) ratings.* The impact protection for these two ratings are generally similar.* SA helmets are specifically designed to meet the requirements of an individual who is restrained within a* motor vehicle and needs flammability and sharp object impact protection.* M helmets are designed to protect individuals who are not restrained and* may come in contact with many different shaped objects.

Many clubs will accept either the Snell M or SA standard for autocross activities and non-racing track events.* Some clubs will accept the ANSI or DOT ratings. High speed racing events generally require the Snell SA rating.* Check with your club on their requirements and rating year.

I'd like to do see a group buy for h-sport springs...alta intake....brake pads. hmmm...let's see. whatelse do I need for my new MINI?

We could even do a group-buy on such big things like exhaust. The dealership said they might be able to hold for us.

If you want a really light rear bar look at the H-sport competition- weighs half the amount of the other aftermarket bars but costs a little more. Stiffness = a 22 mm bar.

If you want strong then look at the Rspeed.net rear bar, it's also a good price. Shipping can be bad because it is oversized and comes in a big box.
2nd day air naturally.

The other rear bars are quite similar. Take your pick.

The endlinks you can put on your MCS right now.
Keep the stock endlinks in case anyone breaks their stock ones.

Wish List

I'd go for a group buy on a strut tower brace. A Dinan would be nice and should accomodate the height of the JCW air box on the new or up-grade kit.

Hey, hows about those 12V light-up dice over at Checker Auto! We could group buy those just in time for Christmas !

Aloha!

Group buy on the 2005 OEM center armrest would be great....as soon as they become available. I heard availabilty is on hold until further notice .

HMMC is proposing a DIY in Januaray 2005.
It has been suggested to do brake pads replacement/upgrade.
Anyone interested in a group buy on brake pads? (maybe Green EBC?)
While we're at it, when can also do tire rotation and possibly bleed brake lines.

Let HMMC know for show of interest and suggestions

Mahalo!

Yes, Yes, Yes!!!!

Brake Pad upgrade/replacement is correct! EBC Green has been selected. Details were in the latest email update. Email us at info@hawaiiminiclub.org for more information.

DIY session for brake pad replacement will follow shortly after.

Tire rotation sounds good Kohu`ulaMINI...great idea!

Another suggestion has been brought up.

Beginning the 2005 SCCA SOLO II season, it will be mandatory to display 8" car numbers and 4" class letters.......no more white shoe polish!!

If we can find a local source to supply the magnetic sheets and sign shop to do the graphics that would be great.
If not, we can use our NAM vendor and try to get a group buy rate.

A local source would be nice though, save on shipping

Anyone have ideas?

I'd even go for magnetic HMMC signs maybe with our member number on them. Would look nice for shows and if I can work us into the parade circuit.

Aloha!

Count me in for the group buy for magnetic numbers/letters for autocross.

HMMC may want to consider buying the BMW belt tensioner tool to loan out for those of us with aftermarket pulleys who want to change belts themselves annually- its about $60 item

I bought Motive Power Bleeder for one person brake bleeding which makes it so easy- be willing to let it be used for DIY session if needed.

SCCA Numbers

Count me in for the SCCA numbers too. Been pricing them and they are costly! Not sure about the HMMC signs with member numbers though.

Like bgrpph, I also have the Motive Power Bleeder, and I wouldn't mind lending it out to the HMMC brake DIY session. Makes the job a LOT easier.

A lot of us DIYers already have the tools to make a lot of the DIY sessions easier. I have an oil extractor (through the dipstick) from Griot's Garage that makes oil changes easy and many of us have the socket needed to remove the oil filter. Jacks, stands, etc......need it? Got it.

What would you guys think of a Hawiian Bonnet stripes group buy. If enough people are interested I will consider giving you guy a great price.

Incase you haven't seen them yet. here they are again. They are available in any color. White ans Black look the best though.
