I'd love to see a picture of this.

I think that this will sell out even before they are built, once confirmed as true.
Hmm Chili red with white stripes.....

Prices start at 30,000 euros, which is roughly $37,000 (Google did the math for me http://tinyurl.com/9kued). Couldn't you get something better by spending $12,000 in mods on a regular MCS?

Question may be moot since Bertone is only making 2000 of them. I doubt they will bother going through the certification process to sell them in the US.

From Gabe over at MotoringFile: http://www.motoringfile.com/
"It's also nice to see a rumored price point finally mentioned. Now before everyone gets their currency calculators out, MINI typically sells cars in the US much lower than a straight currency conversion would indicate. So if the Euro price hits the 30k mark, I would speculate the US will see something just over $30,000 dollars. We should have more on this in the coming weeks..."

"2000 worldwide" Read USA likely

Sorry nolimit, no piccys.........yet

If these are made by Bertone, will they be referred to as "the Italian Job"?

More likely, "2000 worldwide" = "2000 to be sold everywhere except the USA"

Even if half of the production were coming to the States, I can't imagine MINI investing in crash tests, emission tests (unless the drivetrain will end up as the standard JCW offering), etc. just to sell 1000 cars.

I could be wrong, but given the number of Euro-version hot rods that companies build without importing them to the US, I don't see MINI doing any differently.

There are no guarantees but if I remember correctly it was something like
2000 worldwide to major MINI markets. We are a major MINI market.
Oh, here it is. From Paul at MINI2: http://www.mini2.com
"MINI have officially told MINI2 that they are indeed in talks with Bertone in Italy about producing just such a vehicle. The project, if it should happen, will be limited in numbers, but is expected to be available to major global MINI markets."
Yes, I may have to sign a disclamer (can't drive when it's wet outside , for offroad use only etc, etc) Who cares, I still want one

In this case, I think it's the driver thats lightweight, not the car.

What's up disco dude, ready to order one of these puppys should they become
"offical" and "USA bound"? You "need" a new MULE anyway

No, not exactly.....You would spend some money on the mods, spend some money on repairs because you voided the waranty, and at some point when you sell you would have a car that has declined in value due to modification.

Whereas, with a limited production "collectable" car that has a full factory warranty in place, no warranty issues and a car that has a stable if not increasing re-sale value makes the $$$ balance out pretty close

CSL = Cooper Super Lite?

--the specs looks great! I was actually holding out for one, but.... I wanted one in jet black. $37k is way more than I'd be willing to spend on a 2 seater though. At that price range I think I'd drop another $3K and go for the Lotus Elise. Then I'd have a hotdog car still but it'd also be a convertible T-top.

Yeah I agree the other ppl about the price. It's about $9k more than what I paid for my decked out MCSa. I could drop $6k in mods and match the CSL's performance by taking out the seat and plastic.

don't know how good Bertone's build quality is either. It took BMW/Mini 4 years to work out a lotta kinks. But hell this will be a track car essentially. who cares!

No colour/color choices yet but all black seems like a slim chance. More likely
early Cooper S colors. (1963-1967) That's based on current gossip, not a firm source
Base price here (if we get it) should be around 31K which will
make it about 10K less than the Elise. Also there is some talk over on
MINI2 about this car being a speedster. (Read soft top)
" But hell this will be a track car essentially. who cares!"
That's a great statement, and just how I feel.
There is a bunch of stuff we don't know, and isn't it fun to speculate

Actually, I've already done a car from Mexico City that was shipped here. We use the Helix TurboKompressor kit.

Stay tuned for a write up on the kit, and look for it on the website for local installation only.

I'll post some pics of the car from Mexico a bit later.
